We are middle aged travelers who just need a safe, clean, & relatively comfortable place to sleep at night. We experienced a bit of "hotel culture shock" in Grenada. The Siesta location and setting seems safe and it is only a 5 minute walk to the local mini-mall/grocery store. However, the rooms we stayed in (2 different rooms over 4 nights) were not especially clean. The beds had clean sheets, the toilets & showers were clean but the floors had dust bunnies in the corners. The TVs only offered 4 somewhat fuzzy channels, the a/c unit had limited power and was noisey when sitting on the oceanside deck, there was no coffee pot in either room, the shower above us leaked a gallon or so water down into our room. The manager dried up the water immediately and sent a worker to fix the recurring problem the next morning. We can't really suggest a different place to stay but if you want easy access to Grand Asne Beach you should consider paying more for a place on the beach. Siesta Hotel is fine for those who are travelling on a very limited budget. Personally, we'd rather pay another $50-$75 per night and get something on the beach.....although not a resort type place. Good luck. Grenada has lots of wonderful and friendly people.
