My friends and I had a fabulous time at Barcelo Dominican Beach. The hotel staff was very obliging and courteous. The lobby is absolutely beautiful as are the grounds; they are impeccable. We also just loved the coffee shop. My only wish about that is that I hope that they make the coffee shop a non-smoking place. I particularly enjoyed the Brazilian restaurant; the meat was fantastic. I also wish that the resort offered more traditional Dominican dishes, or better yet, a Dominican restaurant. The buffet was also very good, particulary the coffee and the made-to-order omelettes. I was disappointed about the fruit quality and variety there. Being in a caribbean setting, I expected more tropical fruits. They should also cover exposed food/bread, etc... The morning after our arrival, we were greeted by a travel guide who offered us tours at an additional cost. We accepted one and had a fabulous time. He also gave us some tips as to what to avoid, which was helpful. The front desk was friendly but should have given us some further instruction upon our arrival as to restaurant reservations and activities, but we caught on. The evening shows are to die for. The dancers are professionals and involve the audience. I learned a bit of Bachata. The beach was beautiful and there were plenty of chairs under palm trees for those wishing to avoid being sun-burned. The rooms were clean but had a moldy smell to them that I could have done without. But taken as a whole, my friends and I would definitely return to this extremely warm and friendly resort. My only regret is that we only stayed for one week, two would have been perfect. There's always next year!

Everything was nice, hotel is EXCELLENT, all other impressions arevery good, so definitly will go back again. People are friendly, staff proffesional, maintenance was on call (needed for bathroom leak), reacted right away, beach is beautifull, just "around the corner", plenty of excelent food...plenty of actities- for every kind of personality, would highly recomend. I like return again...

Just spent a week here, the most miserable experience of my life. The food was inedible, the rooms were GROSS, mold and mildew everywhere. No security latch on the doors, beds are ridiculous, cigarette burns in spreads and curtains. Bathrooms with broken mirrors and missing tiles and MOLD everywhere. Staff does not care, AT ALL. You can complain all you want, they just don't care, they just look at you and smile. REALLY REALLY, spend the extra money and DO NOT stay here..... I cannot even imagine how people can leave a review that's anything but awful. I can say that the beach is amazing, but good luck getting a towel any time after 10am. Again they just smile and say 15 minutes.... and its HOURS later.

The resort was beautiful. The rooms are a little dated, but they were bright, clean, and the a/c worked (very important!). Not all of the staff speaks english, but it is available at the important places (front desk, restaurants, activities, and bars). The resort can be a little loud until about 11:30pm (because the evening entertainment does not end until about 11:00pm), but we just adjusted our schedule to it. Have fun! We sure did.
