This newly redecorated small hotel is a chic, boutique great place. There is a "lounge" area with a HUGE flat screen , two computers and several leather seating areas and the complimentary breakfast was a notch or two above most. The fitness center was small but spottless and fitted out very nicely. The bed was very comfortable and although the hotel boasts of being "green" and changing sheets only every 3 days on multi day stays, my bed was changed each day. The room was spotless. Although the hotel is tucked under the freeway, plantings have absorbed ALL of the traffic noise. That was not the case with noise from other rooms but it wasn't enough to call management about it. Staff was pleasant, informed about the area and extremely helpful. This has become my favorite place to stay in Mt. View.

I prefer hotels with character, and the decor here was hip and stylish. The staff was helpful, and the young woman at the desk put me in a quiet room at my request. The hot breakfast was much better than most hotel "free breakfasts", but it would have been nice to have had a better fruit selection for those of us who don't eat bacon or sausage. My stay would have been much better had it not been for the smell inside the building. The first thing that hits you when you exit the elevator on the second floor is an old, musty odor. My room had the vague smell of old dirty diapers, although I wasn't constantly aware of it. Once in a while, though, it was unpleasantly strong and at one point, I actually searched the room for a left-behind Pampers. Spraying with room sanitizer didn't help. The hotel is almost directly under a high power line, with a massive pylon right outside the entrance. Had I known about this beforehand, I would not have booked the hotel.

Construction in the area makes hotel difficult to find/enter. However noise was not a huge problem. Rooms are very clean with a unique setup. Door on second floor rooms lead out to small patio, although overgrowing landscape is the only view. Staff is friendly, but a little odd. Bathrooms are very colorful (blue in our case) and include scales and fountain-like sinks. Location is ok, fairly close to downtown San Jose and the nice little street in downtown Mountain View. Free Wi-Fi and nice TV's, plus a small gathering area on the second floor with an even larger TV. Great breakfast in the morning in a very welcoming dining area.

Ok, this is an old hotel, a Travelodge with a face lift. But the attention to detail, the staff, the wonderful breakfast and service make all the difference. I have stayed at 5 Star hotels, and this is not one. But they sure don't act like it. As far as the staff is concerned, they are 5 Star all the way. And, in the end, that makes all the difference. Oh, sure the pillows could be fluffier, the mattress could be firmer, but those things fade. Especially when they are quick to bring you extra pillows! The breakfast is superb! And the breakfast room is cheery and delightful. A far cry from some of the dreary places that pass for "Breakfast Rooms" in some establishments. Enjoy!
