  My family and I were coming back from a Nor-Cal vacation overnighting in Truckee. Half of the vacation was camping the other half hotels. BW TRuckee was exactly what we needed. After a sick little girl threw up on the sleep bag and blankets, we needed a place to clean up and do laundry. The room was large enough to spread things out to dry AND allow the kids to run around. Everything in the room was nice and standard for a higher end chain. Beds were comfortable, everything was clean, fresh and decorated in a contemporary mountain theme. The bathroom was spotless and perfect. The hallways were interesting with pictures and stores about the area - nice touch. There was a courtyard with a beautiful pool, though it was not heated. This was disappointing for a higher end hotel. Perhaps the best part was the breakfast - WOW!!! Breakfast burritos (two types), Eggs, cheese omlet, potatoes, fresh biscuits and gravey PLUS there was a another room of food! This had waffles, bread, pastries, cerial ect. The coffee was Starbuck which you could get anytime. They also had fresh fruit anytime, newspaper and free wi-fi. I'm not a person who likes chains, but BW Truckee was exactly what we needed and I would highly recommend it.

  We were very pleased with the room and staff. The room was spacious, clean, and quiet. The staff was very courteous and helpful. The continental breakfast is quiet extensive and delicious, offering eggs, bacon, and fruit, along with the usual bagels, cereals, muffins, coffee, etc. The hotel is a short (and scenic) 15-20 minute drive from the northern part of Lake Tahoe and maybe 35-40 minutes from Reno. We'll certainly make it a point to stay here again when we go back.

  Overall, this is an excellent hotel for families - the rooms are bright and cheery and the appointments are all quite modern (no, the TV isn't a flat-panel plasma, but everything else is up-to-date, especially in the bathroom). The beds were very comfortable, with fresh, clean linens and plenty of pillows. The heater worked very well, keeping the room toasty, and there was absolutely no smell of cigarettes. The free wireless broadband Internet was a nice touch, though not unexpected in a hotel at this price. A fridge and microwave oven were also provided. The front desk staff were extremely friendly, and very happy to help us find out-of-the-way places for our kids to play in the snow - no easy task given how late in the season it was (almost all of the ski resorts had closed weeks earlier). When traveling with young children, one of the things you might look for is a complimentary breakfast on the hotel premises, and this is another area where the Best Western Truckee Tahoe Inn really shines! There was a wide selection of fresh fruit, cereals, breads, waffles, 'Eggie Bread' (British English for 'French Toast'), eggs, home fries, biscuits, juices, coffees, teas, hot cocoa, etc. Literally something for everyone! If you're in a hurry for lunch or dinner, there's a Pizza Hut Express on the premises, but with plenty of restaurants just a snowball's throw away in Truckee, we didn't bother with it. Our only issues with this Best Western were minor: 1) the rooms could have been a tad larger (2 adults and 3 kids made it slightly cramped); 2) it's too easy for a 3-year old to press buttons on the TV remote that result in a $12.99 room charge upon checkout!!! Overall I'd rate this Best Western a 9/10.

  We had a room across the hall from the sauna and exercise room, and we heard every footstep and conversation in the hallway until past 10pm! The complimentary breakfast buffet is excellent, and the rooms were nice, but the lack of sound insulation really made it a bad experience
