  My roommate and I took a road trip last week and were very pleased with the location, style, comfort, cleanliness and general friendlyness of the staff. While this hotel is not a 5 star, it does well to place itself well into positive experiences. Neg - fee to park and not enough spaces on the north side.

  Poor customer service at check in/out, poor customer service at restaurant set the tone for our stay. Room was relatively clean but in desperate need of an upgrade.Heater was so loud that it had to be turned off to sleep.The location and decent food are the only redeeming qualities here. Way over priced for what you get and everything including parking is extra. Have stayed at other Best Western resorts on the central coast that were excellent. Will not stay at this one again

  Best Best Western we've ever stayed in. Unbelievable location right on the beach, a couple of miles north of Fisherman's Wharf (you'll have to drive to pretty much everything). Modern rooms w/ remote control window shades, free internet, wall-mounted flat screen tv's. Great pool and hot tub. Courteous staff. Didn't love paying for parking ($10 per day), but spectacular sunset made it worthwhile. Will definitely stay again.

  Traveled from Arizona with family in July 2008 and was shocked to discover noise, blocked walkways, clutter and the other annoyances associated with a large construction project. The staff were apologetic and offered us 50% off on our next stay, but only until June 2009. After explaining that we only have time off once a year during July, and that our original trip was ruined in July, the manager still refused to extend our compensatory offer. In addition, during our stay we also waited more than an hour for dinner in the resort restaurant (almost 1/2 an hour before we were able to order drinks) and eventually left without being served. We had hoped to give this resort another chance, see the view and experience the beach after the improvements were made, but at this point, we will never stay at the Best Western Monterey Beach Resort again. They may be the only hotel on the beach (and they certainly act like it) but they have a lot to learn about customer service. If you want to be treated special...do not stay here. Our trip should have been a lifelong memory, not a miserable and better forgotten vacation.

  Spent Xmas here and had a great stay. The room was one for people with dogs (ground level) nice garden view and quiet. Would have much preffered an ocean view tho there were none available.The lobby is very pretty with ocean view. We had 3 meals in the resteraunt and were very happy. Excellent food , very kid friendly and gorgeous views. You have to drive to get to monterey attractions but its only 1 exit away. Only negative was the bathroom was freeeezzzing! No heat in there. Also ,construction on the sea wall tho not going on during the holiday would probably not want to stay on the ocean side until it is done...
