  For a girls weekend, we couldn't have found a better hotel. It was exactly what we were looking for action, shopping, night club and restaurant. The hotel was close to the Grove (West Hollywood) Rodeo Drive and Korea Town.... Definitely stay again

  THis addition to the chic Thompson Hotel Group is certainly modernized and upgraded. The check in area has been moved to a lower level and is too small. Check in was the worst such experience I have had because of the number of people milling about and inadequate desk staff. Supervisors did nothing to alleviate the problem, such as clearing out people who had checked in but whose rooms were unavailable. THe hotel held pool parties for locals during the weekend -- so just when you would have wanted to use the pool it was overwhelmed with young partyers who had waited in line on the back side of the hotel propterty to get in. Half dressed people wandered around the main historic lobby with no one enforcing the stated dress code. Still, the room was nice, simple, if small (always so in older landmark hotels). Good bathroom complimentary products. There is an excellent special bar in the lobby featuring complex, serious mixed drinks; however, Teddy's, the nightclub style mainbar attacted a long line of vulgar young people. Such an operation is common in these hotels now (see, also, the LA Sofitel), but it is not a happy combination. The main dining room seemed elegant with a good menue but didn't try it. Fitness center was small but adequate, with good quality machines, individual TVs. Guests followed the old, disgusting practice of leaving room service trays and takeout food discards in the hallway -- hotels should police this up quickly and tell guests somehow to call the desk to have stuff removed. Overall, I had a decent time. I was surely the oldest person in the hotel by 35 years.

  Checked in to an already 'upgraded' room 10pm (return guest and called ahead) but there was no A/C! Spent first night in a room blowing warm air, could not get below 80 degrees! Moved, but not upgraded, to another room for next four nights. Hotel near sellout. Halls and elevators un-airconditioned. Hotel is old and toilet clogged twice. Staff does what it can. Probably overpriced for the $$, but seems rather hip and popular. Pool staff unhelpful in changing lounge chairs in timely way, but Valet park staff very nice. Front desk, one helpful the other bitchy. Bedding and pillows great! Wish they still carried bath products by Fresh like they used to. Great view of Hollywood Blvd/Mann's Chinese right across street. Again twice had to fight accessed charges never made by me: one long distance call when no one was in room, two "minibar" fees when nothing ever purchased. They did remove. Upon arrival, even with room "paid in full" cash well in advance, insisted on imprinting charge card and running a $* minimum authorization

• Great for the Hollywood experience

  This was the perfect place for me to bring guests who wanted to immerse themselves in hollywood for a night. the staff was excellent and the lobby is wonderful.

  I loved every second of my stay there. The staff was friendly, the rooms were clean and up-to-date, and the room service food was excellent! I would definetly recommend to anyone. Especially those in there 20's, very hip and sheek.
