  Where do I start? After a 6-hour drive my wife and I met the rude front desk staff. The view from room was a wall. There is no privacy sheer curtain. The view from the small bathroom window just made me want to keep it locked. There were beer bottles and trash strewn all about behind the hotel. This hotel has recently been renovated or should I say covered up. The floor is lumpy and uneven. The caret is dirty and there are gaps and sharp edges where the carpet meets the bathroom and closet area. Wallpaper is laid over bubbled wallpaper and chipped paint is painted over throughout. The tile in the shower is laid on top of the previous tile. There is exposed plumbing in the bathroom and the toilet runs. The furniture does not fit in the room and is well chipped because of this. The mattress is lumpy and every move caused the springs to twang. The blanket had many stains on it so we didn’t use it. Something in bed bit me during the night. There is no light in the closet area or a closet door. When we came back to our room after lunch our keys didn’t work anymore. We had to get new keys made so we could get back in our room. Avoid this dump. Monterey is still beautiful.

  I had a wonderful room. I had the King suite with jacuzzi and fireplace. The fireplace did not work, so they gave me a 10% discount on my stay. The room was spacious and clean. I felt comfortable staying there. The hotel was closer to downtown Monterey than I thought.

  The hotel is more than 1 mile to Canary Row and the wharf. There is no hot tub unless you book a suite with a hot tub in the room. The beds are hard and the pillows are too thick. The view from the bathroom window is garbage and discarded supplies thrown on the ground. The complimentary breakfast included cereal in a broken container, milk sitting out and not chilled, toast, or muffins. The room smelled.

  My daughter came to visit from out of town and couldn't stay with us because we are in the middle of a remodel. What a wonderful place. She absolutely loved it; didn't want to leave. The location is great! She loved the bed and the fireplace in her room! I put the staff okay, because we never met them. What a lovely place! I would definitely recommend this to friends!
