  Have stayed there in the past, but this time (2/09) the room took 72 hours to heat up to 70. The "continental breakfast" consisted of bagels and OJ. The bathroom was icy, with no rugs on a tile floor (since the bath was separated by a wall, it never got above 65 degrees). Service was non-existent from the check-in abruptness to no space heater for the room, no suggestions for remedying the problem, no extra blankets, no comp, nothing. Did not care, in other words & they never checked back. No mention on their website that the "famed" dining room no longer serves any food to guests. It's very sad; this used to be a good place. On the minimalist plus side, the room was clean.

  I travel quite a bit and was surprised at the lack of hospitality and courtesy at this Inn, especially since one must make the effort to 'get' to Mendocino. The room was large, dark, and a bit musty.
  I understand the ocean location, yet I believe they could help to eliminate the odor. Lighting was really poor - the bed and bath were okay. The Dining Room could use some good, experienced assistance. - very basic. All in all, I feel the rate was high for the value and lack of friendliness
  offered. They are very emphatic about no cancellation three days prior to arrival, yet they charged my credit card 4-5 days prior to my arrival date, which did not please me either.

  The ambience in the room was nice but the bathroom was shabby. Needs work. It's great that they accept pets but they did not advise me that there was a $25 pet fee. Rick's pub has lousy food and they need to dim lights. Upstairs breakfast room is very nice and great omlettes.
