When we arrived we were told we could not have the king bed room we paid for because they had been busy the night before and those rooms had not been cleaned. Our room was filthy but it was midnight of a long trip and we had already paid for it. There was mold in the bathtub and on the ceiling over the tub which was also losing plaster. Every drawer had dirt. The walls had huge spots like some kind of splatter that was trying to be covered up. There was black stuff on the lamp shade. The sheets were extremely old. We could not park near our room as all of the rooms being used that night were behind a very large swimming pool. I would never stay again and I encourage others to stay away.

We visit Bakersfield once a year for family. We tried the Bakersfield Travelodge a couple years ago and have returned there since. The staff are friendly. The cook puts on a full breakfast with homemade waffles, french toast, scrambled eggs, juices, etc. We have greatly enjoyed the indoor heated spa pool in past years, but this year it was out of order. After a day of playing with grandkids, we really wanted that spa pool! The outdoor pool was clean but cold for October. Local phone calls are free. They offer high-speed hookups, but there are no computers available if you do not bring along your own. It is walking distance to a restuarant, several fast food places, a gas station, and an arcade castle with miniature golf and go carts. The Bakersfield Travelodge is showing its age but is a great value.

Three of use stayed at this motel on our way from Sacramento to Joshua Tree. It was easy to find, just off Hwy 99. The room was dated but clean. The beds were reasonably comfortable. Just fine for a single night stay. The best surprise was the free breakfast. It was not your usual cold cereal and/or packaged pastries. Instead, it was practically cooked to order scrambled eggs, french toast, and biscuits and gravy. The cook was friendly and the food was great. It was a really nice way to start our day.

Very satisfied with our room and pleased with the staff here. This is not a luxury facility and there's no pretense here in that regard. Nothing about Bakersfield Travelodge distracted from our overall stay--got the rest we needed between meeting sessions (at Bakersfield College) plus an excellent breakfast on site which is provided strictly for guests and is a variety of traditional hot selections prepared by a very capable gentleman the Sunday morning we stayed--also has the pour-your-own waffle iron which you need to read and follow the instructions for carefully... We suggest that you tip at least $3 for your breakfast and at least $3 each night for your room. Very good hard-working people there take care of their guests without making a big deal of it and having worked retail and other service-related jobs we know that great service takes a great deal of effort.

Stayed here with my pregnant wife and 2 year old daughter. 1st room had cold air about 4 inches from the small AC vent. Left AC on high all day and returned at 9 PM. Room was just as hot as 2 pm only more humid! Front desk offered a fan as a fix. Went back about an hour later and arranged for room transfer first thing in the morning and to get a second fan. After sweating out the night, we moved rooms. The AC kept the room cool-er in the next room. But both rooms, bathrooms were dirty. Dirty tubs, dirty shower curtains, dirt on the doors! We covered everything in towels, prior to use. Beds were okay, though fitted sheets would've been nice. The breakfast lounge was the bright spot on this pretty aweful trip. The cook was extremely friendly and helpful. Tip for Hotel owner: Take the $71 a night travel online took me for and spend half that on a stand alone AC unit for each room. Or just re-do your entire A/C system!
