  This hotel was a dump. It was not worth $120.00 a night. We reserved a queen bed and only got a double. The room lock did not look very safe. There was a terrible sound everytime the people in the next room turned on the water or flushed the toilet all night long. It kept us awake all night long. If you were asleep it woke you from a sound sleep. One night and that was too many. What a ripe off.Do not stay here. this place got pretty good reviews that's why we stayed here. This was as bad as any of the $69.00 a night hotels.

  This hotel is not fancy, but it has the bare necessitites (bed, shower, toilet, etc...) The bed is something to be desired as it is hard and lumpy. You will wake up with back ache, my husband and I did. The shower is old and the tile is falling a part, and I would reccommend wearing flip flops in the shower as it's kind've dirty. The shower head is also placed at about 5 feet high so if you're taller than that be ready to crouch! And housekeeping does like to come around 9 AM and start knocking on your door to clean and come back about every 20 minutes asking if your done yet. Quite annoying. Other than that, the breakfast every morning was nice and the location was convienent just about 5 minutes away from the wharf, aquarium, and cannery row. So if you want a nice hotel spend the money for it, but if you want a place to sleep after long days of being out and about and not break the bank, this is a good choice if you can deal with the cons.

  Hotel was clean, staff friendly but we had no power in our room from a little after 9 pm to 2 am. We used matches to go to bathroom, had no heat etc. The hotel did not tell us the truth, PG&E working on it but I went outside and could see no one working on it. No kind of partial refund; they said they had power all afternoon - but who stays in the hotel in the afternoon - one wants to explore the area, eat out etc. will never go to this hotel again.

  The rooms were substandard- outdated furniture, crumbling and dirty bathrooms, and worn towels. The shower door in my room was broken, the wall moldings next to the bathroom sink were sliding down (not sure if it was due to shoddy installation or exposure to the 'elements'), the caulking was cracked and moldy, and the toilet flush was weak.

  Having lived for years in Monterey and knowing the area well, this hotel is a good deal. The breakfast is extensive, for the price. The location is not the best for a visit as a tourist to Monterey, but it is convenient. The price for the hotel is very reasonable for what you get- actually the best around. We stay as a family in Monterey about 4 or 5 times a year. This will now be the hotel we come back to.
