  My husband and I stayed just one night to attend a concert at the Roseland Theater. Staff was warm and welcoming, room was clean. Carpet felt a little dirty under foot and the outlet in the bathroom did not work, but otherwise all else was okay. If you have to cross the bridge on foot I will admit after dark is a little scary. You have to walk past two missions with a dozen or so people literally sleeping on the sidewalks asking you for money and smokes. If we to go to that part of Portland again, we would stay again and drive to our destination!

  I stayed for three nights, and had several friends in other rooms, so I got a good feel for the overall place. Great location, super price and above all, much more peaceful and quiet than the Jupiter Hotel just down the street. The rooms I saw were nice (standard-issue budget motel) but mine smelled really musty. The desk chair was filthy, but the bathroom looked very clean. Unfortunately, each morning, I awoke with several BED BUG bites (now diagnosed by a doctor)! I'd forgotten I'd seen a previous review of this property that mentioned bed bugs. I know that even 5-star hotels have bed bugs, but this was my first experience with the critters. Other than that, the place was OK. I'd probably stay there again (but just strip the bedding and check for evidence of bed bugs). You get what you pay for. (I just didn't pay to be on the menu.)

  The Thriftlodge was an extremely scary hotel to stay at. When we closed the door you could see light shinning through so we had to sleep with a chair up against the door just to feel safe. The pool ended up having an underground leak that we didn't know about till we got to the hotel (which made for a very sad 5 year old). The beds are extremely hard and the room looks nothing like the picture. The bathroom sink didn't work that great. We were told we could make free local calls but when we tried to call a place for food the phone wouldn't work so we had to use our cell phones. Over all it was a terrible place to stay and not worth the money at all!

  I could not have selected a hotel that had a more convenient location for me. The parking lot to the place that I celebrated New Year's Eve at could be seen from my hotel room window. Despite the wear and tear on the room, the facility was pretty clean. My only complaint about the stay was the fire alarm that went off at @ 2:45 in the morning.

  Not fancy, but comfortable. maid service was a little sloppy (noticeable by the 3rd day), but i would go there again.
