We wanted a hotel close to the beach and this location was perfect and good value. Our room was kept nice and clean and every request we placed at the front desk was handled promptly, such as requests for extra pillows. The continental breakfast was perfectly adequate- juice, coffee, tea, pastries and muffins. You were always able to go to the lobby and get coffee even in the evening. We loved the fact that the hotel was located so close to the beach (1/2 block) that we'd have breakfast and then go for a walk on the promenade. After a day of visiting tourist sites we'd also go down to the beach and watch the sunset over the Pacific Ocean- beautiful!! There is so much to see in San Diego that we'd love to return someday. Pacific Beach is only 10-15 minutes from so many things. It seemed like a perfect central location for day trips in the San Diego area. We visited for 6 days and only used a 1/2 tank of gas the whole time!

The best feature of this hotel is its proximity to the beach. This is Pacific Beach where a lot of the surfers go. The hotel is within walking distance of a lot of bars and restaurants but it's in a quiet part of the beach. I had a second floor room that was all right, but a friend immediately checked out after seeing her first floor room (I never saw it myself) saying it was like a garage. My room was dark, but the bathroom was clean and the bed was relatively comfortable. There was a sliding glass door, but no balcony to step on to, just one narrow piece of wood and a railing. The breakfast is muffins, coffee and watery juice. There is a microwave and frig, but there are no utensils or dishes. I did have some trouble sleeping as every time the people next to me slammed the door into their room, my entire room shook. The free parking is a nice feature, and the spaces are bigger than other San Diego hotels. I got a great deal as the hotel was running a summer special, but at full price I'm not sure it's worth the money.

I spent a few days researching before making any decision. I am glad that I did. Prior to this vacation, I was a 5 star traveler. This trip had to be on a tight budget (two were able to go for under $*through a online travel website for five days and 4 nights including airfare from Omaha). This hotel did not disappoint! The exterior of the hotel is ""average"". It is definately clean and well-kept and I felt extremely safe. The interior (newly remodeled) was amazing for the money. I was even able to sit outside of my room and get a glimpse of the ocean... I did not expect that. Big Screen TV, tiled bathroom and shower, comfortable beds, quaint decor, etc... The location is wonderful. The beach is as close as it can be without ""being ON the beach"". The scenery is also amazing. We were able to eat all meals within walking distance. We took the bus (can catch right in front of the hotel) to Downtown La Jolla and to Downtown San Diego. We did not rent a car. You MUST visit Downtown La Jolla... the restaurants, the shops, and the GEORGEOUS beaches (including the seals). We decided to visit there our last day, and it made our trip. Just can't speak highly enough of it! Would I change anything if I could do it again... not one thing! That speaks volumes. FYI... not all rooms have a kitchenette, so make sure you request a room that has one if you need it. Ours did not, but it had a refrigerator and microwave which was enough for us. Also, a few of the rooms have a partial view of the ocean... you might want to request that also! A great trip on a tight budget!

We booked this because of the price and location. It was fantastic to wake up each morning and with just a few steps be on the beach watching the waves--what a beautiful way to spend Christmas. What we didn't like was the family in the room above ours whose children bounced out of bed at 6:00 every morning! The beds were very comfortable and the front desk even had extra pillows! The bathroom was nice with a huge glass door/walk-in shower and tile everywhere. I think the floor may even have been heated. Odd thing--no cold water in the sink unless you let it run for 10 minutes. Most places it takes that long to get the hot water! They do need to fix the window latches on bathroom and closet windows. Overall I'd probably stay here again because of the price.

The first room we checked into found the air conditioning broken and we were immediately given another room. This property is just steps from the boardwalk and the ocean, but no view. That did not matter to us. The room is large and clean and everything in the bathroom looked new. We loved the large walk-in shower and the tioletries from Bath & Body Works! The room had a seperate walk-in closet with a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Being coffee drinkers, we were disappointed to find no coffee, no coffee filters and no coffee cups. We had to purchase these things at the local grocery store and then take them home in our luggage. The property has two washers and dryers which we used. Detergent is sold in the vending machine, but is cheaper at the local laudromat. The clothes were dry after only one time through the dryer. Our biggest disappointment was no WIFI. I needed to do some work and send it back home and could not do it any where close by. Even the Starbucks did not have WIFI. We ended up at a little place on Grand Ave. next to the laundromat, where the owner was more than helpful. I am accustomed to always having internet in my room, so this was quite a surprize. We had a very early departing flight and had to check out at 4 a.m. No one was available for our check out. A note was on the door saying they would return soon. Unable to wait we left the keys in the room and called the property later. They were okay with that. Overall, this was a very pleasant stay.
