This motel (you enter your room from the outside) is located on a busy intersection. There is easy access to the freeway, and several restaurants are within walking distance. You have a nice view of the Pacific Ocean, San Diego Bay, and the naval shipyyard. You hear all the traffic and any sirens in the middle of the night. The housekeeping staff is attentive to your needs, but you have to be very assertive with the bar/restaurant staff. The restaurant has the capacity to seat many, but they can properly handle only a handful at a time. The bartenders disappear for long periods of time to do other restaurant duties. The restaurant can use a host/hostess, and the bar can use a service bell. The pool/spa is acceptable for those just wanting to get wet, and the gym is good enough for that guilty binge eater trying to repent. There is plenty of self-parking and a shuttle van that can take you around the local area. This motel is good enough, but not for the price.

This was one of the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The staff was wonderful. The room looked nice. . . or so we thought. 1st the pictures are very deceiving. 2nd there is no need to visit the zoo or sea world when you stay at this hotel. When we were getting ready to go to sleep, the carpet on one side of the bed was drenched! Then we happened to look up and the was a huge ROACH on the ceiling. When we called the front desk to complain she said she would call us back when she found a new room, which she didn't. We walked to the lobby and got a new room it was on the same floor as the roach room! The new room smelled as if they just painted, and the carpet in front of the mini-fridge was freezer burned and gross. All in all, i would not stay her or recommend any one else stay here.

In San Diego during convention time rooms are more than $*/night and this room was only $*/night.While it had some good points, we were disappointed overall. It is more of a "motel" than hotel in that doors to the rooms are outside with no indoor corridoors. It is in a somewhat seedy part of town, so one feels unsafe coming and going in the outside corridoors after dark. The bathroom, though small was nicely upgraded and the bed was new and comfortable. The walls are paper thin and we heard the neighbors all night. Ask for a room on the Naval Yard side where you can see the huge Naval ships, and you hear the Star Spangled Banner played every morning at 8 am. The good points were: free computer w/ internet in lobby and FREE PARKING & FREE SHUTTLE. The shuttle will take you anywhere w/in a 5 mile radius for free - including the convention center. This saves big bucks on taxis or downtown parking. The shuttle is a little run down and shuttle scheduling is a little erratic - but it was very convenient overall. Additionally the food in the restaurant was quite good and the restaurant service was friendly. The desk staff was a little unprofessional - always arguing in spanish & english about scheduling in front of the guests - but housekeeping was great. The pool is tiny, surrounded by traffic noise . If you can't find anywhere else in San Diego (or if you can't afford anything better), this place is an OKAY place to crash at the end of the day. But not recommended if you want luxury or if you'll be hanging at the hotel all day..
