  Check-in was efficient and painless. The newly remodeled rooms had very comfortable new beds. Room was nicely appointed and very clean. Sam's Lounge had great food with a neighborhoodfeeling. With all the remodeling it would have been nice if they would have added a fitness center. Great location with access to a variety of shopping. In the near future with MAX access to PDX and downtown Portland will certainly make this hotel desireable to business and pleasure travelers without the congestion and hassle of the downtown area.

  Front desk staff on check in was good. I asked for a third floor room and was down for a first floor room upon arrival, wound up on the second floor. My wife and I were out of the room from 5 a.m. until 11:50, then at 12:30 were just about to leave when housekeeping arrived to clean the room. We asked them to wait about three minutes. We came back at 9 p.m. and the room had not been cleaned. The bathroom is outdated. Looks like they had a mold problem at one time. The tub was old with green stains in the drain. No plug to take a relaxing bath. The flooring is very old and looks like it has yellow stains on it. The corners ion the bathroom floor were dirty. The room was noisy (you could hear people walking in the room above---why I asked for a third floor room in the first place---housekeeping started vacuuming the hall outside the room shortly after 8 a.m and it was very noisy. There was a table in the room with two chairs, but there was no way two people could have sat at the table the way it was politioned. The bed was nice. Ligting was poor in the room (in addition one buld was burned out in one of the lamps). When I checked out I told the desk clerk about the room not being cleaned and his response was, "Not sure what to say about that." The other desk clerk said he would check in to it, but I don't know what that means. There are other hotels in the area that I would stay in next time.
