It was my first trip away from my family with a boyfriend so we were on a tight budget. Having read the reviews prior, I was expecting a more modest sized room. The front desk staff during the day was very courteous and helped us plan events; however, upon check-in I was annoyed that we had to argue about checking in early when we had requested it prior to leaving home, especially since we were only an hour earlier than normal check-in time and had been up since 4am. Once entering our room, which was right beside the elevator, we noticed that the previous guest left their mini-bar checklist of what they ate, which we were charged for 2 weeks after we returned home. The one thing that really annoyed me, is when we attempted to call to the front desk, no one would answer and would thus have to walk down to the main lobby just to ask simple questions. One thing I found odd though is the entire mirrored wall right beside the bed; I guess it could be fascinating for some, but I found it creepy. Other than the minor bumps, I found for the price we paid it was nice and its location to be wonderful

The location is an easy walk to Chinatown and Union Square. We got there on the evening of Thanksgiving day. The person at the check in counter was bored and unfriendly. Even though I booked my reservation on line and received confirmation, he still took a long time to process our reservation and give us keys. He also tried hard to convince us not to use the hotel's valet. Once in our room, my daughter called the desk to find out if there was a soda vending machine on our floor - again he was curt, unfriendly in letting us know there were no soda machines on any of the floors. Leaving the hotel after two nighst stay was also diffcult - even though I called 15 mins before we left out room to have our car ready downstairs at 8:30 AM, it still took a good 25 mins before the car arrived and the valet took his tip and walked away without so much as a galnce or offer to help u s load our bags into the car. I should have just paid more and gotten BETTER service elsewhere. The only good thing about this place was the maid who cleaned our rooms - she was nice and friendly!

The Hotel location was excellent the the staff was very good as well. The staff offered help on site seeing, travel and food recommandations. The hotel was right next the trolley buses and walking distance to the Union Square and plenty of shopping. Also a few blocks from Chinatown. The only problem I had was the size of the room was small. I wish the hotel room was bigger and the fitness room had more stuff. Other than those things the hotel was great. I would go back, but this time book a bigger room.

The staff was friendly and helpful and the hotel was very comfortable and clean. My only recommendation is to offer a national news channel (e.g. CNN) on the cable TV selection.
