  • disappointing, poor quality and maintenance

    I stayed at the Days Inn San Jose Airport and the accomodations were so bad we (my daughter and nephew) chose not to stay the second night. I chose not to contact the desk with concerns since it wasn't something easily remedied but rather fundamental operation and maintenance of our room. The back of the bathroom door had etched into it ""F*&$ U Up"" (but more graphic), the toilet required fiddling to make flushing work properly. The trim near the tub and bathroom door is in very poor shape, obviously poor work and reflecting lack of attention or care by staff. I didn't know if I'd be eligible for any kind of refund, but it might be good to let others know about the condition of at least some of the rooms. Also, lighting at night in the hallways was very poor, possibly timers that need to be adjusted to turn them on-but very dark indeed, especially for the area, and something that would be very obvious if someone working at the hotel merely walked upstairs above the office to the second floor. anyway, my experience...

    We first selected this hotel because of location, listed features and price. This hotel was a disappointment. The location was okay, close to the airport and freeways. The hotel staff (desk clerk) was not very friendly - barely spoke to you. Our room cleanliness was poor. The carpet was very dirty when we got there, food crumbs, dirt and cleanliness of the carpter was poor. It was never vacuumed and it stayed that way until we asked to vacuum the carpet. We stayed there 6 nights and the only reason we stayed was because we had already paid for the room and the price was reasonable for a hotel in the San Jose area. Since we would not be in the room during the day, we decided we would make the best of it but definitely would not choose this hotel again. The continental breakfast was very marginal so much so that we did not even eat their in the mornings and went to a Denny's or McDonalds instead. The overall quality and inside appearance of the hotel (lobby, eating areas, stairs, hallways, carpeting and beds) looked like they definitely needed to be updated. the pictures on the website of this hotel look very different than the actual hotel. Don't trust the pictures. Overall the hotel met our basic need of needing a place to stay but I would not recommend it and we will select another hotel when we visit the San Jose area again.

    Multiple people behing the desk drinking beer upon arrival. Old stained carpet. Continental breakfast was not replenished when something ran out. They gave us a smoking room when non smoking was requested. They did let us check out early without penalty which was good.

    The new general manager was very professional in handling our needs. Front desk staff especially Michael, very friendly, helpful and went above and beyond to make my children comforatable. Rooms are clean, beautiful and big enough for me and my family. Loved the breakfast. It was beautifully laid out. The new restaurant served delicous and affordable dinner. Shall definatly stay with them again.
