  This hotel is art - this hotel is history. It is in a league of its own. While this hotel is not the Ritz Carlton - it is a place where even the owner makes it a point to introduce himself and ask for opinions. Everytime I visit The Clarendon My opinion becomes more and more set. I believe for someone who enjoys places and people who tend to journey down the not often take road, then you will love this place. Expect everyone to treat you like ""family."" I live in Maricopa but still make it a point to stay at the Clarendon every chance I get to get away and relax. Seriously, if your nose isnt too far up, come up to the top of the hotel where there is a roof top bar....AMAZING view of the Phoenix downtown skyline. Hot choc, coffee, and even cocktails to keep you warm. Dont be afraid to ask for blankets - the staff happily brings them to you! Im looking forward to yet another stay this weekend - shopping trip with the girls ;)

  I have stayed in a lot of hotels during my business travels, and the four star rating on this one is totally misleading. While the decor is trendy, the rooms seem dark and dank. The hotel is a remodeled hotel from the 60's or 70's, but it still has the same feel with a couple of art pieces. I didn't sleep well because the surroundings were just too spooky. I kept expecting someone to pop out from behind the leaning mirror or the huge artwork. This hotel is also not in the best part of town. If I thought my company would have reimbursed me for cancelling my reservation at this hotel and pay for another hotel, I would not have stayed here.

  The hotel was nice, but I was caught off guard with the amount of gay guests. I booked the room online because of the good price and nice pictures of the hotel. I didn't think that I would see men hunging and kissing in the lobby or laid out together by the pool. I don't have a problem with anyone's personal preference, but I do have a problem with some public acts in a family atmosphere.

  I was pleasantly surprised to see this hotel at the rate offered when I had to make an emergency trip to Phoenix in late August. I booked 3 nights initially and extended for 3 additional nights. I would have given the hotel an overall rating of excellent except for two issues. The first was the wireless internet connection. In the first room I was given I was not able to log on despite repeated attempts. I was moved to a different room and the connection was flawless thereafter. The second issue was the lack of someone to fix things promptly. In the first room the phone did not work properly to access wake up calls or the front desk. It was finally replaced after three requests over the course of the day just when I was going to a new room. In the second room a burned out light bulb in one of the lamps was never replaced despite two requests. Despite this, I will return to this property eagerly.

  The hotel location was ideal. Far enough off Central Avenue to avoid excessive noise. Upon arrival the room had been upgraded, a very nice suprise. The staff was very informative regarding the decor(art work), history of the hotel and available for further information. The room was fantastic. The decor very appealing, the bed was extremely comfortable. I will definitely stay again.
