  Very pleasant stay. We chose the Ayres Hotel Costa Mesa by pure accident. We were looking for an affordable hotel. We paid about $ /night. Then we spoke with some business clients and told them we were traveling to Costa Mesa and Newport Beach and they highly recommended the exact hotel. We were excited to get a good recommendation from a previous guest. We arrived late in the evening. The hotel was busy with a confence, but the front desk person helped us without delay. Our room was very nicely appointed and very clean. The hotel is an older boutique hotel and has historical pictures throughout. We enjoyed the daily complimentary breakfast buffet in the outdoor center courtyard. We spent most of out trip at the beach but we did have a chance to enjoy the pool and spa at the hotel. The pool was a bit chilly. We also ordered room service for dinner our first night. The food was delivered in 20 minutes and was piping hot and excellent quality. The room service attendant was extremely polite. My only complaint (not much of a complaint) was when I asked the front desk staff for recommendations for local restaurants (where locals go) they only recommended the tourist places and chains. We found a local restaurant on our own which was very good, but I think we got lucky. I really like it when the staff can recommend the true local spots. So, overall the hotel exceeded our expectations by a long shot! Give it a try if you're in the Costa Mesa / Newport Beach area or even the LA area since its only about 20 min away. Ayres has about 10-12 other hotels and we will stay with them again.

  A gem hidden in a corner. this beautifully decorated hotel is way under rated, it has everything you want for a modest price per day you can live like the young Napoleon in a French country setting decorations. Like the breakfast, it is pro-servered, and free, what can you cay? the room is sparkling clean, the only problem we see is the slow elevator, everything else is nice or should I say really nice.

  The hotel is very nice. Nice staff. However, upon checking in; I was told that there was a balance due on the room; but I paid in full online. There was a 45 min delay upon check in, because the hotel had no record of me paying in full. They had to check on line; just make sure you bring a receipt with you, if you paid for a room in full, thank god I did, it made it a bit easier.... Other than this slight incident, I received a beautiful room, clean, cozy and nice; the room included a full breakfast buffet the next morning from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Juice, coffee, cereals, eggs, hash browns, toast, fruit, etc. Good food. I would sugget, however, if you want to eat at the buffet the next morning, do not wait until 8:00 or after; there is a huge line and most of the food is gone, that's why I ate early, 6:30 a.m. There is security walking around the premises, which makes it safe. Nice location, easy to get to, it's worth the stay!

  I really enjoyed the stay, the food was very good and the personel are top notch, if staying for an extended period i suggest you spend a bit more and get at least the junior executive suite. The internet connection was superb.
  
  Breakfast by the 4th day was a bit repetitive, I should have bought stock in melons and pineapple :p, but overall good food, the bartender was great as was the staff. The restaurant food was definitely delicious, decently priced for the convenience.
  
  While there there was construction being done and woke up one morning at 8:30 with the pounding of a sledge hammer, check for a room away from that while there. The first night I wanted to use the phone to call the desk and it was unplugged, an oversight that should have never happened.
  
  I did send a review from them and I was pleasantly surprised that in less than two days I received a responce from an executive adressing a few minor issues.
  
  Overall being that I am picky and having the expectation of superv service for the money I paid I highly recommend this hotel, you will be treated like royalty.
