  The room and the hotel overall is very clean except with a little bit smell (cleaner?) in the room. The front desk is friendly. The breakfast is basic and good. The area is very quiet and close to ocean. We walked to beach watched sunset in the evening.

  The hotel initially looked fine and the front desk was helpful. As the day progressed, things got stranged. They had a sofa and a couple of chairs in front of our room. Don't know why. They said it was for the guests to sit out.....in front of our room??? Kids couldn't take a nap since some other quests were sitting there smoking and drinking. We told the front desk he said he would take care of it, which he didnt'. At 2:30 AM we had a couple of people talking, smoking and drinking. We called the front office, no one answered. They told us the following day, they don't have anyone during the night. I wonder who we would have to call if something major was to happen. In the morning, there was no hot water to shower. When we called and reported that, they said everyone else has hot water. In the parking lot, we met two other couples who said they didn't have hot water either and the front desk told them eveyone else had it!!! Just plain bad. The only positive....the location and distance to the aquarium and the main strip. Won't stay there again.

  Nice quiet place with fairly new remodel. Some of the decorations are older but the cleanliness and comfort made up for that. Lovely granite tile in bathrooms, FREE wireless internet, and the very basic continental breakfast are added attractions for our group of 5 adults traveling on business to attend a conference. Staff is incredibly nice and helpful, the blooming Jasmine trailing along the entire front of the building is fragrant and beautiful, as is all the landscaping. Location is perfect , the Butterfly Sanctuary is right across the street. Each of us are very satisfied with our separate accommodations. Would recommend the Wilkes Inn to others and will try to get back soon ourselves - for a pleasure trip.

  We've book a room through AAA and didn't know what to expect in Pacific Grove. We were surprised and we really enjoyed our stay as well as the beauty of Pacific Grove which they call The Last Hometown. We saw Monarchs and walk down to the village and had an excellent food. We also went down to the beach and enjoyed the sunny day. The location is great, the staff is wonderful, and the service was excellent. We do recommend this hotel to our friends.
