  Very quaint and historical. Gardens and patios are beautiful. Hotel is old and of course rooms are not to be compared the Wazoo Expensive inn next door but this is a quiet place with a wonderful ambiance that we can afford for a weekend getaway. Good for couples, romantic fireplaces in many rooms.

  The location and grounds are very nice, but the rooms left a lot to be desired. They are old but fairly clean; however ours had a terrible musty smell. The comforter had holes and stains, but the bathroom was really clean. The continental breakfast was OK- muffins had been left out a while and were hard; had a few cereals to choose from and watery coffee and OJ. The staff was nice but the office was cluttered and smelled like whatever they were cooking in their apartment. We went for a romantic getaway but the room killed the mood. Not a total dump but close- I would not recommend it.

  I love this place! it was cute, cozy and romantic. the fireplace added a special touch. some might find being on the pch and the train across the the street ...

  I love this place! It was cute, cozy and romantic. The fireplace added a special touch. Some might find being on the PCH and the train across the the street noisy, but personally I thought it was wonderful! I was here for my birthday, and I will go back as soon as I can. Hopefully for a longer stay this time.

  This is an update to a review I wrote about two years ago. My expereience was horrible then, and a recent experience from visiting family only confirms how bad this place was, and continues to be. Paper thin walls, smell of smoke in non-smoking rooms (told it was our imagination-RUDE), and train noise. What's there to like?
