  This hotel has great service and a very professional management team. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The front desk assisted me with restaurants and directions to different places. Enjoyed the relaxing music in the lobby. The full breakfast was great. The location was very central to downtown, the beach, pier, downtown and the harbor.

  Pulled into the parking lot around midnight extremely tired after driving 9 hours, noticed lots of California tags....odd? This place is depressing, really old looking inside with all the unpleasant smells of a place in need of a complete makeover and very dimly lit, grafitti carvings on elevator door. We still tolerated our night well, until the next morning...NO Hot Water for a shower. No problem, it didn't seem to bother the day counter person (night lady was friendly and helpful). I'm a frequent Choice hotel traveler, but I'm becoming more and more unhappy with their run down motels. My suggestion would be for the owner of this franchise motel to bull dozer the place and build a new hotel. The highlite was the free Denny's breakfast down the street which was hot and delicious, it was nice having breakfast away from the motel.

  My room was purchased in advanced (Good Buy) but when I arrived the hotel was full and my room was the only one available. It was an adequate room, much as I had asked for. It had been a warm day and the room was hot. I could not make the wall mounted AC unit work. There was only one twel, a hand towel, but the staff assured me the others were in the drier. When I asked about the AC, the clerk explained that the wall switch (unmarked) turned the power on and off, and I may hit that. It seemed likely, so I went to get a late supper. When I returned, i flipped the switch, but still nothing. I brought the clerk to the room who decided the unit was not functional. I asked for another room, but they had none. They then brought two fans. The fan guard on one was missing and the other clicked loudly from the blade striking the guard. The heat was too great to sleep, so i used the guardless fan in front of the open mini fridge and managed to get some sleep. In the morning, no towels. I took off pillow cases to stand on while wet, thinking to use the handtowel to dry. However, the tub bottom was full of hair. I scraped it as best I could with tissue, and turned on the shower. The tub would not drain. About this time I needed to use the toilet, and did. It would not flush. The pull chain was broken. I had to reach in and pull up the rubber stopper. Then the little (wet) hand towel again. In daylight, it was evident that little had been done to clean the room other than make the bed.

  Since we are choice priv members they were very glad to upgrade our room to a jacuzzi and a fireplace in the room. They gave us a coupon for a simple breakfast at Dennys. Dennys only had one waitress so it took awhile for breakfast. The hotel was nice and clean and we liked it but it was built between two major highways so since we are from the country we did not like the traffic noise.

  It was a pleasure to stay here. My room was clean and recently rennovated. I could get to downtown and the pier easily from here. Close to the ocean and beach which is of importance to me when I come back in the spring.
