This hotel is NOT worth Ritz prices. Stayed 7 days and it was like living on top of an office building in the middle of Manhattan. Concierge floor had a wonderful staff, but the accommodations were not of the caliber of a Ritz Carlton. The air quality in Los Angeles in the middle of the summer by the Union Train Station was better than that of this hotel. Save your money find a real 5 star hotel.

This was my fifth trip to Barcelona but my first stay at the Arts. After having stayed at other hotels in the main shopping areas, I wanted to try something more modern and the Arts came highly recommended by friends who live in Barcelona. The service is very friendly. Staff at both Reception and the Concierge were very welcoming and eager to help. The hotel is located by the beach and had a great view but is very big -- perhaps too big to give truly personalised service. The elevators took a long time because they were constantly in use. We tried to order Room Service one evening but were told that it would take an hour because they were so busy. The room itself is not well laid out or designed for travellers. There weren't enough nooks to put suitcases -- we had four -- and we kept tripping over them. There wasn't much storage even for stuff in the room. Food in the mini bar was laid out in the open under the TV. That wasn't very attractive. The bed, however, was very, very comfortable. It was the bathroom that was the biggest victim of design for its own sake. Faucets were tall and, while attractive, splashed water all over the counter. Once again, there was little room for toiletries and nowhere guests could put things without their stuff getting wet. When it came time to check out, we were asked to do express check-out because the credit card machine was broken. The problem with express check-out is that additional charges can be added without being contested because the guest has already left. They might not do this at the Arts but it left a bad impression.

staff is kind but not qualified in hotel hospitality ot top level.

Hotel Arts is not the "place where the genuine care and comfort of guests is the highest mission" quoted in The Ritz-Carlton Credo, staying there was just a waste of time and money. -
Inconsistent
07/02/2007Service, housekeeping inconsistent. walls needed paint touch up, carpeting soiled. someone vomited in hall and elevator and hotel did not clean properly (smell!!) for 2 days. did not exchange robes ...
Service, housekeeping inconsistent. Walls needed paint touch up, carpeting soiled. Someone vomited in hall and elevator and hotel did not clean properly (smell!!) for 2 days. Did not exchange robes for clean ones. Our room was not tended to at all one day. Had to call housekeeping at 11pm when we arrived back. Ambulance sirens all night , every night due to major hospital within one block of this hotel. Could not sleep. Beds were not comfortable. A/C was not working properly. Dirty towels and food, dishes still out at midnight making the pool and garden areas uninviting.
