Room was lovely and very quiet. View from room and from gorgeous roof top terrace extended over greenspace and then the entire city. Same view as from the Hassler, but even higher up the hill. Staff very helpful and friendly, with good English spoken. Beautiful decor. Breakfast was not included, and would have been $80 US for two. Fortunately there are good alternatives in the neighborhood, with several coffee bars, a pastry shop, a wonderful fruit store, and even an underground supermarket in the passageway between the Via Veneto and the Villa Borghese. Several good restaurants within a block or two much more reasonably priced than the hotel restaurant. These include Vladimir (three course dinner with wine for same price as hotel breakfast, Aurora 10 for great seafood, and Le Chiacchiere, about 1.5 blocks the other side of Via Veneto on Via Sicilia (continuation of Via Lombardia). One side of the mattress in Room 505 was terminallly saggy and should long since have been replaced in a hotel of this overall quality. While the neighborhood is great, it is a bit far from major tourist sites and without good public transportation. Every time we got into a cab it was 9 or 10 Euros per ride. Even with these reservations, though, on balance we liked the place and would consider staying there again.

From other reviews, I knew it would be better than average and knew the price would be better than average too. Excellent room, great staff, nice breakfast, good location on a quiet street yet an easy walk to the restaurants at Via Veneto or Trevi Fountain or Spanish steps. It was a nice oasis to come back to after a full day of sightseeing. We could have stayed at a less costly place but you get what you pay for and the Sofitel Rome was worth it.

We just returned from a 3 night stay at this great hotel... convenient to lots of sights but just off the beaten track in a quiet street - breakfast was pretty good and quite ample but too many ""poached"" fruits, not freshly prepared; room was really handsomely furnished and bath was attractive (shower seems to leak some onto the floor) - highly recommend!
