Great experience being away from the main hotel building. Our room (with 3 adults-2 queen beds) was very comfortable, well decorated and an added plus was the gas fireplace. We were supplied with lots of bath towels, wonderful soaps, lotions etc. and a handy microwave oven and refrigerator. Also supplied was a small coffee maker with coffee and accompaniments. These cottages are great places for multiple families or friends. For a reunion or just a holiday. The staff was very friendly. We stayed there during the second week of November which was a quiet time with less guests but certainly not deserted. Great pool, gym, sauna on the premises. The Lodge is at Fishcamp which is at the southern entrance to Yosemite so it's a a 35 mile drive on winding mountain roads to the valley floor where a lot of the attractions are. But it's so close to Mariposa Grove. Fall was a beautiful time to visit as it was uncrowded where we could enjoy the peace and serenity of the valley.

Just got back from Yosemite, so I'm writing with fresh memories in mind... We stayed at the cottages which are privately secluded from the rest of the main lodge. The cottages were nice, clean and confortable until I got into the bed which was too hard and the pillows way too soft for my taste. Each cottage is shared by two or three separate rooms, if a third is the case they are on the upstairs section. The walls between these sections are quite thin just like I read in other reviews of the main lodge rooms. I had "Grand Central Station" pull into the upstairs area in the middle of the night. Previous reviews of these cottages stated that the rooms required updating, but ours was noticeably refurbished. The staff is pleasant and the food at the Sierra restaurant was always excellent.

The Good: My wife and I stayed four nights in a comfortably sized, two double bed room in the main lodge building in early Nov. 2009. There was ample room for our two bags each, plus some small hand carry. The staff is friendly and accommodating. We requested a room change from the cottages to the main lodge building which they made easily. The building is a short drive from Yosemite Park. The Neutral: The hamburgers in the Jacalopes (sports) Bar were good, the cold sandwiches were bland. The guestroom bathroom had only a single sink. The Bad: The cottage rooms are secluded, have smallish windows, and are heavily shadowed by trees. They feel somewhat gloomy even with all the lights turned on. The sound transmission between rooms in the main lodge building is high. We could hear our neighbor's phone conversations easily. Noisy children could be a problem. The food sold in the "Deli" is all pre-made, expensive and bland. The building architecture and interior finishes feel low budget, like a larger version of a Best Western.

Beautiful hotel, with a fun pool (indoor and outdoor) for the kids. Clean, and cozy rooms with air conditioning, which really helped during the summer heatwave. Location is a little far from Yosemite Valley. It is about a 10 minute drive from the hotel to get to the South entrance of Yosemite National Park, and then a hour to reach the valley. There is a Sugar Pine Railroad and horse back riding close by, but other than that most of our time was spent in Yosemite Valley.

We stayed for 2 nights & wish it could have been longer. The rooms were comfortable. The amenities were great. we loved the pool that was open till midnight & the wonderfully hot jacuzzis., plus the selection of board games from front desk. Free internet access was also a big bonus. Beautiful outdoor fire pit, & log fires inside. Staff are very professional & friendly. Downside is price of food & long drive into the park. However we would definitely recommend & hope to come back again some day.
