  I was slightly disappointed as the advertisment said the hotel had food and a bar, however the Hotel did have a central location and their were excellent food and bar with in one block. The staff were very pleasent, helpful in answering all my questions. The Hotel had a very unique atmosphere, it was old but restored, was festive for the Christmas Holiday. It was clean and my room was taken good care of daily. The bed was a pleasent suprise, the best I have encountered in 12 months in this city all different locations. The area for continentail breakfast was a beautiful bar area, breakfast was adaquate, internet access,t.v. was user friendly, a small but adaquate work out room was available, great place for lone business travelers or romantic couples looking for a spark. The parking was a bit of a walk and would have liked to be closer to my car. I stayed on the road side and when the bars close there is a bit of noise in earlie morning hours but the hotel itself did feel very safe and comfortable, I had no trouble resting and for the price would stay here again. A Historic experience is exactly what you will find. I liked this Hotel.

• Charming intown hotel

  Wonderfully friendly and accommodating staff. great location, delicious continental breakfast, rooms are comfortable, clean and nicely decorated.

  I have stayed in alot of Hotels throughout the world and always read other hotel reviews. We found this to be a little gem the room we stayed in was neat and clean. All brand new furiture, large T.V. the gym had also all brand new gear. Very close to the shopping area and market without the noise with the double paned windows.... Thanks for the great stay..... PS my husband said great breakfast.

  In the past I have stayed at the Marriott and Hilton hotels in downtown Anchorage. They're nice - and just like Marriotts and Hiltons everywhere else. IF that's what you want, good for you. However, the unique and downright grand experience and stay I had at the Historic Anchorage Hotel was exceptional. Yes, when you see "historic" in the name you know that the building has been around for a bit - don't let that sway your decision. I was very pleased with the rooms, the environment, and the cental location of this hotel and will never stay anywhere else in downtown Anchorage. The staff and management were wonderful, accomodating in ways that exceeeded my expectations and experiences at much larger hotels. They made great recommendations, booked reservations and were genuinely interested in me as a customer. They went out of their way to insure that my stay was a good one and were attentive to any needs. As a matter of fact - after I checked out to travel to Fairbanks and Nome for a few days, I chose to cancel my planned stay at a different Anchorage hotel to return to the friendly and comfortable Historic Anchorage hotel. And I have already booked my stay for 2009. Treat yourself to something unique, historic and memorable.
