  The Renaissance Hotel is very nice although going renovations which seem to be almost complete. The staff is pleasant and knowledgeable. Rooms smell great and are nicely designed (some with chaise lounges) and flat screen tvs. I don't know what they use to make rooms smell fabulous when you walk in but all hotels should do the same. Free internet access is available for guests and flight check-in is available at front desk. The bartender on duty makes a great mojito. The restaurant makes a good buffalo popcorn shrimp. The pool and jacuzzi area is very nice and the comfortable cabanas. I'm sorry I didn't make more use of it. The hotel is in a good location considering it is not on the beach. Port Everglades is across the street. You can take the Sun Trolley that is 5-10 minute ride away from the beach. Just flag it down and it stops. Price varies from 50 cents to $1 for Trolley. Walgreens is across the street from hotel. A Nail Salon, Radio Shack, Cold Stone Creamery, Subway and Liquor stores are about 1 1/2 blocks away while Dennys, CVS, & McDonald's & Burger King are about a 10 minute walk. The Bimini Boat Yard restaurant is just yards away from hotel. Very nice view of yachts with indoor/outdoor views and good food. You can get to shopping areas by public transportation but they take a while to get to. Overall a very nice place to stay.TIP: If going to South Beach by car...take I-95 and not AIA.

  Stayed for weekend get away. hotel is ok, but rooms are in need of updating, shower was dirty, and front desk staff not helpful. asked for extra pillows 3 seperate ...

  STAYED FOR WEEKEND GET AWAY. HOTEL IS OK, BUT ROOMS ARE IN NEED OF UPDATING, SHOWER WAS DIRTY, AND FRONT DESK STAFF NOT HELPFUL. ASKED FOR EXTRA PILLOWS 3 SEPERATE TIMES AND NEVER RECIEVED THEM. NOT BAD FOR AN INEXPENSIVE STAY, BUT DON'T EXPECT SERVICE OF A 4 STAR HOTEL.

  I stayed for 2 nights/3 days and the gentleman at the front desk at night was really nice and also the one that brought us our room service was very friendly! Everything is clean, pool area is really nice!!

  The convenient location near the Ft. Lauderdale beaches cannot be beat at this price level. The other full service hotels near the beach are all much more expensive, making this a nice option. My only complaint is the room key situation. Marriott has a problem with it's room keys deactivating when they come in contact with a cell phone. My room key deactivated if it came anywhere close to my cell phone.
