Pros- The staff was friendly and courteous. The location is the best feature of the hotel. It's within walking distance of a number of supermarkets, restaurants, bank, and public transportation. Best of all it's very close to most of Vancouver's major attractions without being in the middle of downtown and the horrible traffic/drivers. The king jr suite was spacious and clean. Cons- Rooms are showing their age and the repairs/upgrades seem to be done on the cheap. Old (but functional) refridgerator, broken airconditioner, small television with a broken remote, radiant heaters with the faceplates falling off (aesthetics only). Have to call the front desk for ice. Hidden hazards in the parking lot. There are numerous pipes and outcroppings that are painted the exact color as their surrounding walls making them difficult to spot. Bed is right next to the door and could be a problem if you have noisey neighbors. Other- Parking is $20 a day. If room aesthetics aren't a big deal the Plaza 500 could be a great place for you to stay especially considering the great location. If you're a light sleeper and want a freshly remodeled hotel then you'll be disappointed.

we stayed for 4 nights, and the first night there was a horrible screeching sound in the room. when we mentioned it in the morning, they offered to move us, and upgraded up to a MUCH nicer room. you have to pay for EVERYTHING extra--internet is over 10 dollars a day, and parking is 20. the staff is overall VERY nice, and really did want to help.

Stay date: March 19/08 You can't beat the price of $* CDN for a large Vancouver hotel room but I will not be staying again. My primary complaint is the noise -- sirens from ambulances on their way to nearby VGH, early morning construction on Vancouver's RAV line, test runs of the new RAV trains during the night, clunky ice machines, and loud guests in the hallway. This is a hotel that would benefit from soundproofing. It is looking quite shabby and in need of a reno but is within the parameter of the current price point. The staff is friendly and helpful Figmint offers a terrific 1st class breakfast -- including a $10 credit from the hotel Great view of Vancouver Large rooms Convenient location HTH

I stayed at this wonderful hotel 6 nights. Location was great! Staff was very courteous and helpful. Though there is some street construction around the hotel (going towards downtown) but did not take us too long on those streets. Room was great with a great view of downtown and mountains. My kids, wife and I enjoyed our stay. There is a Mall across the street with food court, starbucks, safeway grocery store, and also a dollar store. It was very convenient for us Our stay was very pleasant here and I will definitely stay there again!!
