    The hotel is very nice, very trendy. It is in a good location, accessible to the harbor and shopping all within walking distance. The bar is very expensive in the lobby and I wasn't too fond of the Sand Bar. If you go the Sand Bar, wear sandals that you can take off because it will ruin nice shoes and the sand gets into everything. It is very loud in the hotel lobby due to the music. The person checking us in had to turn it down so she could hear us and we could hear her. We were able to get a good deal on this hotel on the website otherwise we wouldn't have paid the exorbitant price regularly listed.

    Very nice hotel and the employee's were very polite and eager help. The room was way to warm. Could not get the A/C to cool the room so we were awake on and off all night long because it would get so warm. All the maintenance guy did was turn on the blower so it ran the entire time. Hallway was a good 10 degrees cooler than than the room. In 3 days they did not solve the problem. Not worth the $* or more they usually get.

    Well I will try to put it nicely. When I called the hotel the person answered the phone "e;whenever whatever. What!!! I replied. Listen when I am going to spend *+ dollars I think I should get a respectable greeting. Also the phone staff really treated me on the phone as if they just really didn't care about my concerns and questions about the hotel. When we checked in I found out why. This hotel in SanDiego California has many drawbacks. I will list them as follows: 1. The bathroom door is a sliding door with a frosted glass. Problem is the dooor is not completely closed around the edges when pulled all the way. Their is about a 1 to 2 inch gap all around the door . Well if I wanted a prison cell to listen to someone else use the-well you get what I mean. 2. Outside on the curb I had to get the bell boy's dolly and bring my own bags inside after takeing them out of the van curbside. When I was at the front desk checking in the bellboy appeared and was Mr. ching ching. I don't think so. Well I was given a room that I had requested;facing the bay. We reached the 13 floor (yes 13th floor) and reached the room which had been cleaned. The bellman opened the door and wushhhh, a cloud of cigarette smoke was in the air and all down the hallway. The bellman apologized for the smoke and told us to wait there ( I guess to smell more smoke) while He finds some on to "ionize" the room. Finally a little maid appeared with a spray bottle and spraed the room. Then She put her hands up in the air as to say WHAT!

    We booked 3 nights at the W; our first experience with this hotel. Though the staff of the W was friendly, the organization was a mess. We had 2 separate reservations due to an added night. When we checked in, it appeared that everything was okay. After the 2nd night we received a bill. That should have warned us of the mess to come. On the 3rd day we returned to the hotel around 4:30 pm, our room had not been cleaned. We called the front desk and they offered us clean towels. We did not need clean towels, we needed our room clean. Someone came to the room and assured us that it would be clean in the next half hour. We left the room for 2 more hours, but upon our return to the room we found that it had still not been cleaned. Again we called the front desk and again clean towels were offered! We just wanted our room clean! The hotel did offer us some SPG points, but after this experience we will not ever use those points on another Starwood hotel. And for what we paid for one night at this hotel, we could have received 3 nights at a Hampton that would have included coffee IN the room as well as a breakfast the next morning!

    When my husband & I visited W San Diego we were very impressed with the facility. The roof top Beach bar with sand, fire pit, lounges, etc. were a real treat. We enjoyed being within walking distance of the Gaslamp area and never did have to rent a car. One situation did mar our visit - our neighbors in the next room were MOST boisterous @ 3 am with no end in sight. First night - Ok. Second night - not Ok. When we found out that the party would be there for a third night we asked to be moved which was done immediately. The personnel were very well versed in making us happy. We would stay there again.
