We had an excellent stay at the Silverpoint Villa Hotel. We were very satisfied with the hotel, hotel's staff, service, food, pools, views, cleanliness, security, and the location of the hotel. The hotel is conducive for enjoyment and relaxation since it is located on the south coast of Barbados away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist areas. The hotel's pools are clean, well maintained, and relaxing. The picturesque beach is where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Caribbean Sea and is great for experienced swimmers, surfers, beach combing, and relaxing. There are beaches close by for lesser experienced swimmers. We intentionally ventured away from the hotel into the surrounding areas and neighborhoods of Silver Sands for exploration and found many residents to be very helpful and friendly. I would live in these neighborhoods. There are some very nice neighborhoods there. Transportation is provided by taxis and minibus which can be found at the hotel. We were able to obtain a nice rental car from Rayside Rentals located near Grantley Adams International Airport during Crop Over Festival when most rentals were reserved. A few places to relax and see are Little Bay, Miami Beach in Enterprise, the view from Morgan Lewis Windmill overlooking the Scotland District, the entire eastern coast of Barbados, parish of St. Lucy, and downtown Bridgetown. Barbados is an island to get intentionally lost on and to explore on your own.

We were very surprised when we got to the hotel. It was already late when we got there but the check in process was painless and quick. The staff was very friendly and lead us straight to the restaurant so that we could have dinner. We were then lead to our room which exceeding our expecations. Having picked the hotel blindly (we had not been to Barbados before) we were not expecting it to be as nice as it was. It was suite style with a very large living room that opened to an equally nice balcony with a view of the ocean. A flat screen television and dvd/vcr combo completed the room. The bathroom was next and it had a very big shower with a great shower head. The bedroom was also spacious and the bed was very comfortable. It really was a very nice hotel. The only downsides I saw was that the location was a little far from the main areas of town and there was no direct access to the beach. It is, however, six minutes from the airport.

Silver Point is a sleek, modern place, but I had a bad experience this month on a business trip. After reserving a room, paying in full, and calling the day before to notify that I had a late arrival, I was informed that they had overbooked, and was sent packing to a crappy, 1950's resort nearby.
