Just got back from San Diego. Ivy is a decent hotel. The room was good for one person. First time I saw toilet separated from the bath. The only draw back was that my window faced salvation army office. However, I can't understand why they don't have free parking for guests. Considering the rates they charge, they should provide a free parking. Instead you have to pay $* per day for valet parking. Generaly parking in San Diego is hard. The cheapest parking I saw was $* per day. I was in the city only 4 days I spent $* for parking. Anywhere you go in downtown or even outside, you have to pay separately for parking. Except for Sea Village and only if you buy smth from merchants. You can forget meters . It's so far the most expensive city I've been in US. it looks likes people parked their cars there forever:) Oh yes, those trycycle taxi are ridiculously expensive. The girl asked me $* for 30 minutes ride. Do not eat in the hotel. They charge excessively for food. They charged me $* for a cup of tea. Go outside hotel for food! A lot of restaraunts offer 1/2 off the price,if you go before 7pm.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the hotel but that is where my enjoyment ended. It had very small rooms. Plus, it was so exclusive that my group had a hard time getting into the club on site, despite the fact there were literally only 10 people in the club. The staff at times seemed very unconcerned with our needs and complaints called to there attention seemed to be more of an inconvenience than anything. There was one day that our room didn't even get cleaned. I would not recommend. There are far cooler, friendlier and more reasonable places to stay downtown.

When I checked into the Ivy Hotel I was very pleased with the friendliness of the staff and especially the modern decor. The way the rooms are decorated is awesome. My room was located with a view of the "light well". The light well is actually a view of the A/C unit in the center of the hotel, not a nice view whatsoever. Everything was nice until about 9:00pm when you could begin to hear the bass from the rooftop nightclub. I was on the 2nd floor and the club was about 3 floors above mine so I didn't think it would be a problem, but by 10:30 the noise was louder and unbearable. Around 12:00am I called the front desk to see if I could move rooms, but they said they were full. The noise continued until 2:00am when the club closed. That turned out to be the worst night I had ever experienced in a hotel. The next day they were able to move my room to one of the rooms that had a view of the city away from the "light wel"l, but they never apologized for the noise. That room was much quieter than the first. What happens is the noise travels down the "light well" and makes it sound like the club is right outside of your window. Unless you plan on going to bed after 2:00am every night, I would suggest that you insist on a room with a city view and not the light well view or stay elsewhere. The hotel staff is well aware of the excess noise experienced in some rooms, but will not forewarn you about it!

From the moment I stepped out of the taxi, the doormen were welcoming, the front desk friendly, and rooms very hip and cool. I thought location near the gaslamp district and within walking distance of the convention center and the waterfront was perfect. Great bar off the lobby, and amazing roof deck to either have breakfast or chill by the pool, and it turns into a very cool rooftop bar at night with outdoor fireplaces, lounges and fabulous views. I highly recommend this hotel!

This place was great! From the valet parking guys to the front desk it would be a place I would recommend and re-visit. The concierge / valet staff / front desk were extremely helpful and friendly. The bed was comfortable and the bars/lounges were top notch The ONLY downside was the pool side waitress,. we were only one couple of about 5 or 6 couples at the pool and she walked by us numerous times, we eventually had to go to the bar and order our drinks. The bartender however, was great Good location for walking to various sites throughout the city. Well worth the cost!
