  We just got back yesterday from Vancouver BC and would not stay at this hotel ever again. We do not recommend it to anyone. The furniture was from the 1980 's, it was all dark and depressing, the bathroom was full of hairs that were not ours. We only booked for 1 night and hardly stayed in our room so we decided to report it at the time for check out. They charged us such high amount that we would've preferred to stay at the Sheraton or Pan Pacific for the money. This hotel is advertised as a 5 star hotel but is nothing but a "dump" with characteristics worse that of Motel 6. It looked like a prison room. The headboard was scratched, carpets had stains all over, the old tv had bad signal, the dresser and closet were scary looking. It was all very old, gray, no elegant style, not clean, no sophistication. The pool was just okay, the shops that they mention in other reviews were old, outdated, depressing, no live, no people, not even a variety of food places to choose from. The only good thing around was Stanley Park and of course the city but nothing in this hotel was appealing. They did not an atmosphere of relaxation and sophistication like it mentions in the reviews. Our room had a terrible view, it looked like we were in the middle of the ghetto in the Soviet Union. The only good thing was the italian coffee they left in the kitchen for us, my husband made it and we run out the door because the kitchen was also depressing and outdated. It looked like a set of a horror movie, not a good place for a cheerful getaway!!

• A MUST TO STAY AT!

  This for me is up there with my top hotels in Vancouver, I would highly reccomend this to friends, travelers and families. I don't have any complaints, the rooms are big, their staff is just amazing and the rooms are very quiet. There are two things that I felt that they could improve on which is their bathroom size and the crazy wall to wall painting in their 50 feet pool area with a nice hot tub. I stayed at the four sessons and the pan pacific and for the price you can't beat it for this kind of casual luxury. I am a very fussy person and this hotel met my standards and more. I recently went there for my birthday and stayed once again in their suites and was shocked to find that the room look the same as when I was there last time but for the price you get a room the size of a average apartment and your own balcony with a very nice view.

  Don't let the older building put you off. The Coast Plaza is clean, neat, well-maintained and staffed by terrific people. The kitchen suite is an awesome value for the cost.

  I stayed at this hotel in October 2008 and teh wireless internet service was spotty, and an office that is available in the lobby for web browsing and printing often had others waiting or door was locked. Room was clean, included a kitchen area and maid service was fast and effcient. for what I paid I was pleasantly surprised and would stay at this hotel again

  This was truly a great experience! When I booked the trip, I found out I was placed in a room with double beds. Since I was travelling alone, I called the hotel after I found out and the lady politely told me there were no king sized beds available so I would be stuck with double beds. I was not too happy about that, but figured there was nothing I could do. When I showed up to the hotel and went to the room, I saw they did place me in a room with a king sized bed! I was very impressed. The room was immaculate and large. The balcony was also quite large and there were huge windows. I recommend getting a one-bedroom suite, as these rooms seem to be on the higher floors and the views are amazing. When I go back to Vancouver, this is the hotel I will stay in, as it is close to everything you will want to see. The Internet is free, but it is wireless. However, if you don't have a wireless computer, they have an adapter you can buy for $150 and then they credit you back $150 when you return it at check-in. Internet was slower than I was used to, but was fine. Local calls are also free, which is nice.
