  Galveston itself is not very appealing for a well traveled beach goer. There are much better beaches in the world to see. However, if you wind up in Galveston - TX, then the Hilton is an excellent choice. Insist on a balcony that overlooks the pool as high up as possible. Do not let the frontdesk "upgrade" you to something else upon arrival. The staff is friendly, and the rooms are clean. All the renovation nightmare stories seemed to be addressed at this point. I saw no construction. The elevator was the only infrastructure problem I noted as it seemed to get stuck all the time. Overall, if you got to go to Galveston, then Hilton is a good choice. Its location is excellent. Get up walk to IHOP along the beach. Eat at Gaidos!

  Everything was wonderful. Our trip was during the hurricane which hit South Padre so the water currents were too rough for swimming in the ocean, however, our kids spent hours in the hotel pool. The pool and pool area were very large so we were all able to hang out there. The only minor complaint we had was that it took until 4:00 for the maid to clean our room. We would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it.

  My fiance & I decided to go to Galveston as we were in the Hosuton area on business. We could not have been happier with the hotel. First check in was not supposed to be until 4:00 (which is pretty ridiculous...) but the lady at check in was able to get us in by 2:00 and plus put us in the "new" tower. In addition another of the folks at the front desk was able to recomend a great seafood place for dinner (Willie G's-The Best!).
  The room itself was great and overlooked the Gulf as advertised. The room was comfortable we really had no complaints.

  The room had a great view of the gulf. The beds and bedding were uncomfortable. We were awakened at 6:30 a.m. by vacuuming. The hotel is poorly laid out. Not a very nice facility. We left a request for the remote control to be fixed on our door (as they requested) and it was not addressed as of our check out time the next morning at 10 a.m. For 160 per night, I was very disappointed.

  We checked in an hour early since we had such a long drive. Our room was ready to go. Front desk hotel staff were very courteous and quick to get us checked in. X (bellman) was so nice and professional! He was very friendly and helped us get all our luggage to our room. Let me mention that we were leaving on a cruise the next morning, so loading and unloading 10 pieces of lugguage is no easy task...he did it with ease! He assured us he would be back in the morning to get us all loaded up for the ride to the terminal and in fact he was right on time! We really enjoyed this nice young man. They were serving cookies and hot cider in the lobby which we thought were a nice touch.
  
  The room was very spacious and clean, but the beds were not the most comfortable that we have ever slept in. I do think they need to do some upgrading here. The bathroom was large with plenty of counter space. The tub faucet did leak, but that did not bother us in the least.
  
  We did order room service for breakfast and everything was delicious and hot! A nice generous helping of french toast was quite tasty! My husband ordered his eggs over easy and they were to his liking.
  
  Our overall experience of this hotel was very nice and we will be staying here again. The beach is directly across from the hotel so that was nice that we just walked out the back entrance and straight across to the beach.
  
  We enjoyed our short stay and will definitely stay here again!
