We stayed for 2 days before transferring to a hotel off Times Square which was already prepaid. If not for the prepay, we would have stayed at the San Carlos. Very friendly people, glad to accomodate and the neighborhood location was fantastic. It was quiet but you could walk one block either direction and be in the thick. The room was quiet and very roomy with a kitchenette. Markets close by with hot food bars and groceries if you don't want to eat out. We will definitely stay at San Carlos again.

This hotel is lovely. It was our first trip to NYC and the accomodations suited us to a T. The room is modern, clean and the beds are comfortable. The bathroom is also clean & modern. The bonus feature is the little kitchenette: a microwave oven, 4 cup coffee maker with 2 complimentary pouches of coffee, sugars & sweeteners, dishes and cutlery and the minifridge, which is separate from the minibar fridge, ice bucket AND BOTTLE OPENER {a little thing but not even the Waldorf Astoria provides a bottle opener}. Even though our room had 2 double beds, the room also included a easy chair & ottoman with side table & lamp {again, something not even the Waldorf provides}. The complimentary continental breakfast was well done. Staff, for the most part, are friendly, helpful & multilingual. The location is ideal...most must-see destinations and shopping are within walking distance.

The staff at the hotel were helpful, polite and more than willing to assist with anything. This was our first trip to NYC and somewhat taken back by the price. Once we got over the sticker shock, we choose the San Carlos for the location and b/c it was one of more reasonalbly priced. We were able to check our luggage in early that morning, but couldn't get a room due to our early arrival time -about 9a. Upon returning to the hotel to check in to our room we were given an upgrade to a two-bedroom suite. Thie room was spacous, clean and well stocked. I would definitely stay at the San Carlos again. It's located close to Time Square, lot's to do and see. We had really no idea what to expect, given the expense and reputation of NYC hotels, but the San Carlos couldn't have been nicer and we were pleasantly suprised at how nice it was.

Had a very enjoyable stay. Four of us stayed in one room for 7 days. We booked a double room with 2 double beds, but after a quick and easy check-in, we were pleasantly surprised with a king suite! We were a little concerned at first with not having a second bed, but the pull-out bed on the couch was just as comfortable as the bed. The room had a microwave, fridge, and little dining area, so it was quite spacious. The room was very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Great location also. Many sites within walking distance, and there is a subway stop half a block away. I would stay there again, and I highly recommend this hotel to others.
