We stayed here a Labor Day weekend 2008 for 4-5 nights while fleeing a Hurricane threatening Houston. The only room left was a handicapped one. We took it gratefully, since most hotels near Austin were booked up. As it turned out, we loved the huge handicapped shower and even gave our small dogs a bath using the shower wand with on/off switch. This is not a fancy place. The sheets are a little worn, the toilet needed manual assist to refill after each flush, the hall carpet is stained, and there's no breakfast. But, unlike most hotels that accept pets, Red Roof Inn doesn't charge extra for the ""one small dog"" they allow. This location seemed very liberal about the pet policy: A number of folks had more than one dog and we saw several medium-sized dogs. Too bad that some dog owners don't clean up after their pets. I even saw a guy who was staying at the Value Place hotel next door walk his dog on this hotel's property and not clean it up! Get a room toward the back, because this is on a busy highway. The building's interior room doors and locking entrances at night give this place decent security. Hotel management is one of the highlights. They're efficient, polite and empowered to make decisions. At check-out, they voluntarily knocked $25 off our bill for the wonky toilet. But they charged a combination of rates for different days of our stay, even though we had agreed on the lower rate for all nights when reserving. It evened out with the $25 discount, but I'd advise reading your bill carefully at checkout and bringing a printout of your reservation with you to verify the agreed-upon rate.

We chcked in at about 6pm, the first room that was given was not ready at all, bed undone, trash in can and towels everywhere. The lady was nice about it and gave me a room on the 3rd floor, which felt safer than the 1st floor rooms. The room was decent, nothing too major, however an iron and coffeemaker would have helped. There were some gaps in the door to the room and all the walls seemed too thin (we could hear the t.v's in the adjacent rooms). The shower didnt get hotter than luke warm and the door to the restroom didnt lock or close all the way, luckily I was with family. The bed was okay, it sunk inwards. The pillows were good and fluffy. The heater didnt work too good, it wouldnt get warm when we wanted it to after it got too cold overnight. The chair at the desk was broken, glad I didnt sit on it.
Overall, it was an "ok" place to stay FOR ONE NIGHT, nothing more. I would not recommend this place to anywone unless they desperately needed a room cheaper than $100.

It was very noisy because the hotel is right next to the highway and the windows are not very thick. The sheets felt like sandpaper. We switched rooms at three in the morning because our mattress was so terrible and although the next room was better it was still pretty bad. The shower only ever reached lukewarm and there was a dead cricket in the bathroom. However the staff was very friendly even after we switched rooms during the night and cancelled our second night.

I travel extensivly (Million Miler with AA). This hotel is cheaply made. The rooms are tiny, the beds need to be updated, window screens repaired and a coffee maker in the room should be a must. I had it booked for three nights but checked out after the second night and moved to a better hotel and paid for it. I wanted to check out immediately but there was nothing available."
