  I overall stay of the hotel was okay. the layout of the hotel was a challenge maze. the room were small but, clean. the maid service was poor. twice I had to call for room serivice , after a date of touring the city. the front desk personnel were cold and distance. no greetings nor goodbyes during the stay.location was okay as to nyc.........

  I have stayed at the Anchor several times. I think the staff is nice and helpful, the rooms are clean and have good amenities. They gave me a free deluxe room upgrade to see the other rooms types and wow, the deluxe rooms are sweet. Black stone counter, microwave, big lcd Tv and a jacuzzi (also have pillow top mattress). It was a nice treat, I might even splurge next time and pay for the deluxe if they dont give me the free upgrade.

  Breajfast was poor-every morning somethings were not available-cereal, milk or juice. had to call for help daily.

  Although the building is older, it is well-maintained. The staff was very pleasant and attentive to all our requests. The room was clean, beds firm, AC worked. The Long Island Railroad has a stop about 4 blocks from the hotel so traveling to Midtown was easy (about 30 minute ride). There is also a McDonalds near the LIRR stop which made for a quick breakfast on the way into the city. If you don't require a 5 star, this is a great economical choice for a trip to NYC. (Don't park near the restaurant beside the hotel at night. Some of its patrons exhibit less-than-civilized behavior.)

  Overall, I enjoyed the stay at Anchor Inn. The staff is very friendly and helpful, parking is free and plentiful and the location is convenient and safe (close to airport, Queens College & not a bad commute to Manhattan); altogether a good value for the price. This is not a frills hotel, but everything is more than adequate. Prepare to go elsewhere for food, though. Subways & Starbucks are right across from hotel, more ethnic foods just down the street. The only downside was that we were put into a NS room and had requested smoking. They quickly adjusted and put us in another room, but the AC had obviously not been on for quite a while, so room was stifling and reeked of smoke! Hopefully, under normal circumstances in the summer they cool the rooms at least a couple of hours in advance of check-in. Luckily we were going out for the evening and room was pleasant upon our return. That aside, I do recommend the Anchor Inn and would stay there again.
