  When I arrived at the front desk the clerk was engaged in a personal telephone call. He did hang up promptly and registered me. I was given a room at the back of the hotel. When I drove around to the back of the hotel I discovered that the outer doors were propped open even though they had card readers installed on them. The door to the assigned room was open and would not shut securely. The carpet was filthy, I could see my footprints where I walked across the floor. I returned to the front desk and requested another room close to the office area on the second floor. The clerk was again engaged in a personal telephone call. He hung up promptly and assigned me a second room. I arrived at the door of the room with two cards programed to admit me to the room. Neither card worked. I went downstairs (no elevator), he was again engaged in a personal telephone call, and told him the keys would not work. He accompanied me upstairs where he confirmed that neither card would open the door. He went downstairs and reprogramed the cards and returned them to me. They worked. There was a screw missing from the security chain mounting on the doorframe, a large hole in the bathroom door (it appears that someone put their fist through the door), the bathroom door knob was broken, there were broken tiles in the bathroom floor and a leak in the plumbing under the bathroom sink. The carpet in the bedroom was not fitted to the wall (it had been installed incorrectly and the subfloor was showing through. The water pressure in the bathroom sink was low. I would not have stayed there if Mariott had not been booked.
