  Beautiful, elegant lobby, comfortable beds and linens, what more can one say? the location is perfect. close to theater, rockefeller center, movies, central park, great shopping, etc.

  The location is one of the best in the city. The room was well appointed and very comfortable. We were able to check in early and found the staff to be very helpful. Would definitely pick this hotel again. The only thing that was missing from the room was a coffee maker. There was a 24 hour deli less than a block away so it was not too much of a problem. Wound up leaving some clothes in the hotel and the staff was helpful in finding and shipping it back to me.

  The experience was good with the exception of the hotel breakfast was extremely expensive with coffee and juice $* each. i overheard complaints from others while eating to the waitresses. people ...

  The experience was good with the exception of the hotel breakfast was extremely expensive with coffee and juice $* each. I overheard complaints from others while eating to the waitresses. People were very upset when they got their bills including me.

  I make 2~3 trips into NYC every year and we always try out new hotels. The Essex is probably the best deal I've seen so far. Location is great, across from Central Park, near Columbus Circle subway, steps from 5th Ave. The rooms are clean, well decorated, and comfortable; the lobby is beautiful, very classic New York. The attached restaurant is great for drinks after a night out on the town. A must for a classic New York Experience!

  The staff was extremely helpful and polite. The room was very comfortable, nicely appointted, and while not huge, was larger than most of the hotels we have stayed in while visiting Manhattan. The bed was comfortable, the flat screen TV was great.
