We attended a meeting in this hotel and wished that we had never bothered with staying there. The first thing that we noticed was that the staff seemed indifferent to their customers. It was like we did not exist.

They all seemed to really not know what their job was, and most could barely speak English. Then came the check in procedure, which took at least 15 minutes while the check in clerk bumbled around trying to find us a room that had been reserved for us several days earlier.

As we made our way to our room, the hallways stunk of rotting material or mildew mixed with some other strange odors. When we got to our room, the first thing we noticed was that the intake air grille to the air conditioner was making some serious rattling noises, so I reached up to see if I could stop the rattling, and then I saw the problem. The filter had not been changed or cleaned for such a long time that mildew and mold had begun to grow on it and clogged it up.

That was pretty bad, but when we opened the curtains to look out our window, unbelievably, there was another building being constructed so close that the workers could look directly into our room. Latter that night we dealt with the bed sheets that did not fit the bed and kept sliding off during the night, and if that was not bad enough, people kept slamming the big heavy metal doors all through the night. It sounded just like the prison movies you see as they lock up the cells.

The next morning my Wife decided that she would make some coffee in the coffee maker that was one of the amenities of the room, and found some left over coffee and the old used coffee still in the maker.

The final blow came when we went down for breakfast the next morning, and got the worst service and the most terrible food in any place that we have ever stayed.

We decided not to stay another night there and drove over 400 miles back .

  • My worst experience ever!

Granted, we came down during spring break, which means it was noisy & full of under-age drinking. We didn't actually have any problem with any of the "breakers" except a little late-night noise. The problem started with the 10 per person fee for wristbands, without which, you were not allowed into the hotel. We prepaid for our room and were not notified about this until we were trying to check in. This amounted to 40 for us. We were not given the choice of getting our money back once they explained this to us, so we had no choice but to pay it or forfeit the 300+ we had already paid. The staff were extremely rude to everyone. We checked in anyway. The room was dingy & filthy. I mean really filthy. There were stains that I only could HOPE were food on drapes, bedspreads, and shower curtain. Everything was old and worn out, and horribly dirty. The worst problem was the air conditioning vent in the ceiling near the sink. It had a filter in it that looked like it had never been changed. It was dripping, and as our 2-day stay went on, got worse and worse. There was mold everywhere. The musty smell got worse and was pretty foul as time went on. In fact, the smell stuck to some of our stuff that we unpacked when we got home. We notified the front desk of the leak and smell when we checked in, twice the next day, and as we were checking out. They either rudely stated that no one had time to come & check, or ignored us completely. The last time we attempted to speak with the manager, he hung up on us. Don't stay here!

Our visit was very pleasant. We feel for the price we could not have done better. It is by no means a 4 star hotel, but is very clean, is in a great location and worked great for what we needed. We plan on going back very soon.

  • Only thing good is the Location/view

We recently stayed at your hotel for a short vacation. We arrived and checked in with no issues. We got to our building and it was very hot waiting for the one of two working elevators to come down to the first floor. We went to our room and it was not inpressive for the amount of money we were paying. Immediately I went to the balcony to look out to the ocean and the slidign door was jammed and broken. the locking mechanism was barely hanging on and the paint was peeling on the inside and outside of the door. The air conditioner was leaking from the back and this green mold stuff was in the corner next to the crack in the wall on the balcony. The in room safe was completely broken, the television would flash with horizontal lines across the picture and the water pressure in the shower was less than the pressure coming out of my garden hose at home. We talked with other residients while we were there and they indicated they were checking out and going to another hotel for the rest of their stay. I was really disappointed with the condition of the building. One positive: The view from the balcony was excellent.

We were suppose to stay for 3 days and after a couple of hours @ this hotel we decided to check-out. Rooms were very muggy, hot and outdated. As soon as we walked off the elevator the entire floor was steamy hot. We walked into our room and it was hot as well. We lowered the A/C and went out to dinner, hoping that upon our return the room would cool off - wrong. The room was as hot as when we originally got their. This hotel is overpriced - never again will I stay their. Our preference would be to stay in Harlingen and travel back & forth to the Island.
