Well where shall I begin. When we arrived at the hotel, I found it strange that we have gotten old fashion keys for our room... I didn't really think much at the time but when we went to the room I was very disappointed the room had a chemically smell the bathroom was very outdated the tub would clogg up when you take a shower the sink had rust in it....there was NO ironing board or iron in the room you have to go to the basement also you had to help yourself to pillows and sheets. The only thing that was possitive about the place was the staff.

I love the Lord Amherst! I visit Buffalo often, having lived there for 20 years and having many friends in the area, and the Lord Amherst is a perfect base from which to function during my stays. It's not fancy and walking into the lobby is like walking back in time to the 60s or maybe even the 50s, but the rooms are no different from those in cookie cutter motels and are comfortable, there's cable to keep a kid happy when you're not out doing things, the bathrooms are clean, and the breakfast is quite passable, as long as you're not looking for five star! The staff are typical friendly Western New Yorkers looking out for their guests. If you're looking to get a clean, comfortable place to stay without spending a fortune and can live with an outdated lobby, a motel format, and a very nice staff, try to Lord Amherst!

Listed as a hotel on the internet. However, sign under name of hotel says motor hotel. I asked desk clerk and he said it was a hotel/motel because you can drive up to your room. I don't like to stay in motels. Therefore, I was very disappointed. Also a big negative was to get to hotel/motel to find that there was no elevator and my room was on the second floor. I had heavy luggage and asked for a first floor room and was told that the first floor rooms only had one bed. I needed 2 beds. Therefore, I had to settle for the second floor room and walking up and down stairs with my bad knees. There also was no iron or ironing board in the room. I was told that the iron and ironing board was in the basement in the laundry room. I told the desk that going to the basement to iron was not convenient nor did I feel safe about going there. However, the desk was able to get me an iron and ironing board and put it in my room. I was pleased about that. The room was large and comfortable. Continental breakfast was ok. However, the hotel/motel was very old and needs updating. I did not like hotel/motel enough to consider staying there again.

We paid $63 including tax for a room here on a Saturday night. Considering the price, it was well worth it. No, it isn't a four star hotel, but for what we paid I was more than happy. It was easy to find, clean, big room, coffee maker, hair dryer, free breakfast and pleasant staff. I'd definitely stay again.

Fine for the price and allowing pets. Continental breakfast was good. Arrived a week after their first snowstorm. Utility men who were there to restore power stayed here too. They were above and next to us. VERY loud and noisy. Came in late and left at 6 AM. Trucks were parked outside our window in an empty lot. Our dog barked when he heard their voices, slamming doors and pounding of feet Kept us awake trying to quiet him. Maids did not vacuum the second night. Got 2 bars of soap for 2 sinks & shower and were never replenished. enjoyed the ""wireless"" internet ."
