I have nothing but positive things to say about this hotel. This is a great place to stay if you want to get out of the bustle of the city but still be close enough to ride a subway train (or two...which is fun!) to get to Times Square, Madison Square, Grand Central, etc. The bed was much more comfortable than the last hotel we stayed in while in the city, the bathroom was nicely decorated and clean, and the service was good. Our room looked towards the Hudson River and we were very pleased with the proximity to Central Park and the museums....it was our honeymoon hotel and we'd stay there again. We did get a room that had its own bathroom, not a shared one. That is a recommended plus.

Absolutely no complaints -- personnel were friendly and helpful, service was above average. Our rooms were comfortable and very clean, the linens plentiful and fresh. Quiet with not a lot of hustle and bustle except the expected outside night noises. The location was great -- near bus and subway stops. Several nice restaurants very convenient. We especially enjoyed the Manhattan Diner which was just across the street.

We were most disappointed in this hotel. Having booked through online travel website before, we expected the hotel to be reflective of the rating. It didn't look anything like the pictures. Obviously, this is an older apartment building that was converted into a hotel. The rooms give the feeling that rats could be crawling around. The lobby is tiny and thank goodness there wasn't a fire while we were there because the halls are extremely narrow and wandering. The bathroom was old and to say that this hotel had been updated was very misleading. Our room was very hot (even in December), so we turned the A/C on and it make loud noises each and every night that kept us awake. With this being our first trip to NY, we needed to get to a TV show taping on the first morning of our trip. We arrived at 11PM the night before and hadn't acclimated to the location of the hotel as it related to all of NY. The front desk assured us that the bellman would get us a cab in the morning to get us to the taping on time. He flagged us one of the ""unregulated black cabs"" that ripped us off. They charged us $35.00 for a 1/2 mile ride. I would have thought that the hotel would look after their ""guests"" instead of taking advantage of them and allowing them to be ripped off. Needless to say, after this experience, we got our own yellow cabs for the rest of the trip. There is no restaurant or bar in the hotel, but the Manhattan Diner is nearby and has good food. We would NEVER make another reservation in this hotel.

This is a strange place. Looks like it must have been an SRO at one time, and the sleek check-in desk doesn't disguise the rabbits-warren of tiny hallways awaiting you on the floors above. My room did not have it's own bathroom! The floor was dirty, the a/c control was broken, the beds were single beds (not two twin beds, mind you, but two single beds), and not very comfortable ones at that. Everything about this place, except the check-in desk and the gorgeous El Al flight crew that was checking in as I was checking out, is weird, dirty or inconvenient. Even a teenager/college-student who would tolerate all of the above could pay the same price for an upper west side hotel with a clean room in proper working order with its own bathroom.

On top of that the rooms smelled of urine 24/7.The rooms did not look like the picture at all! There were RAT Traps in the corner of the room! How Nasty!! I was so unpleased with my stay! It made my tip to NY horrible!
