    As the old saying "you get what you pay for". Hubby and I were looking for a cheap get-a-way, and the Travelodge provided just that during off peak season. The beds and linens were clean and soft. The deluxe room was very spacious (would have rearranged the furniture differentlly). Whenever we needed something from housekeeping or staff, we received it immediately delivered to our door. The bathrooms' exhaust fan was way too noisy and the tile was not as clean as it could have been, but the housekeeping was thorough and fast with what they had to work with. I'm sure that if my husband and I were college spring breakers, the minor issues would not have been as noticeable. We would stay here again and would recommend South Padre Island Travelodge to anyone who is seeking a budget vacation in the area.

    The picture of the hotel is very deceiving. There are several buildings between the hotel and beach that have been doctored out of the picture. One might think it's just an old picture, but in real life, the buildings that actually exist there are not new. Some of them are at least as old, if not older, than the hotel. How, then, can they be missing from the picture??!! There is no way. Someone must have edited them out of the picture. Despite this deceptive maneuver, the price was reasonable for what you get. It's just too bad Travelodge wants people to think it is practically on the beach, when it's not. Look at the picture again and imagine two or three rows of buildings between the Travelodge and the sandy beach -- that is the reality. Beach access is a 3-ft. wide boardwalk with 6-ft. high fencing on both sides that cuts through the other properties to the beach -- not too bad of a walk unless you tend to be claustrophobic.

    WE BROUGHT OUR FAMILY , INCLUDING GRANDCHILDREN WHO WERE ALL UNDER THE AGE OF 7. WE HAD A GREAT TIME . ALL THE EMPLOYEES WERE GREAT, ROOMS ARE CLEAN AND I LOVE NOT HAVING CARPET. THE WALK TO THE BEACH WAS JUST RIGHT AND THE LITTLE ONES HAD NO PROBLEM walking it . WE WILL STAY AGAIN.

    This hotel was Not as we had been told. The floors and room were dirty and not cleaned during our stay.The free breakfast was not as portrayed. There were waffles ,no fruit ,cereal and toast. The pool was small and the area not clean or cared for. The beach access was difficult and there was oil all over the sand, common in that area , unappealing. The rooms were noisy.
