  Very pleased with this hotel - quiet part of town, right next to Gourmet Garage food store, close walk to restaurants, subway, shopping. Staff most cordial. Our room was quite "roomy"-- had a little kitchen, nice view, chair & ottoman, flat screen TV, two queen beds, desk, several mirrors, etc. and we were told it was one of the smaller rooms. We could see the rooms below had courtyards with table and chairs. Room was clean - carpet had been patched however the rest of the accomodations appeared recently renovated. Would definitely stay here again. We'd never sacrifice comfort, space and security for proximity to the tourist traps (Times Square, etc.) We really enjoyed this hotel and we would definitely return again.

  The hotel was exactly what we needed and wanted. The room was extremely ample for New York, we were a family of four and we had plenty of room. The small kitchen was an added bonus! The staff was extremely helpful and friendly! It was close enough to walk to all the excitement. We were celebrating my two kids birthdays (11 and 8) and the staff helped me surprise them with balloons and a cake upon our arrival. Would definitely stay at this hotel again and again.

  Excellent location on the Upper East Side. Spacious and well cared for. Next time I would choose a room on an upper level floor. The whole staff was very helpful and accommodating. I will stay again on my return visit.

  At the risk of giving a glowing review that will make this hotel too popular (and impossible to get reservations) the Affinia Gardens Hotel is wonderful. My husband and I live in California but are transplanted New Yorkers, so going ""home"" is always a treat. We've stayed at some other hotels which ran the gamut from fair to expensive but horrible. We stayed here last May because our daughter, son-in-law, and BEAUTIFUL grandchildren live around the corner and up one block so seeing our precious babies and their parents is very convenient. Our older daugahter and grandchildren (grown) live in Staten Island but come into the City frequently so family gatherings are frequent. Shopping, especially the department stores, are all convenient (remember, NYers walk everywhere, unlike CA.) The neighborhood is Upper East Side residential so one can run errands - drug store, cleaners, supermarket, bank - with ease. There are also some very fine neighborhood restaurants nearby. However if you are in town on business it might be a little out of the way from mid-town. The Hotel service is wonderful. If there is a problem it is taken care of immediately. One nice touch is the fresh, cold water with a slice of cucumber, which is so refreshing, especially in the summer. Some of the rooms open out to a little garden in the back which is great in the summer. There are also some parks nearby, perfect for children. All in all, the Affinia Gardens is a wonderful and reasonable (for New York) place to stay.

• My favorite NY spot

  I have stayed in several nyc hotels and this has been my favorite. the rooms are large and the atmosphere is great. would love to stay there again.
