Immediately on entering the lobby I noticed two things: the front desk it behind bullet proof glass, and there is a large sign reading "NO REFUNDS". Not good signs. The room was fairly clean, but very spartan. The phone in the room was missing buttons, the cable only has about 15 channels. There is no closet. There was no stationary. There was candle wax dripped all over on of the light fixtures, and there were 3 burned out bulbs in the room and a hole in the wall.

The internet did not work at any time during our 4 night stay.

On the second morning of our four night stay, the office called us sound somewhat annoyed, saying that we were late for checkout. I had to go down to the front desk and show them my printout from travelocity to convince them that I really did have a four day reservation.

On the plus side, the subway station is basically under the hotel. This is convenient, although it is a 20-25 minute ride into Manhattan. Also there is a 24 hour minimart across the street.

Overall, this place is ok if you are on a budget, but if you can afford a little more, I'd highly recommend finding something a bit nicer.

  • do NOT go inside and do NOT stay outside !

However we did not take our clothes off to sleep! Still got bitten by bugs several times, yuk!
Hairs on bedspread, pillows etc. Had we not prepaid we would not have left the taxi, driver
called us crazy....by taxi everything is far away. Entering the lobby we were stared at by
the owner / family members behind the counter, bulletproof glas partition. The one nice thing....... We did call the travel agency Lady about the guarantee and were told, that this place should be good enough.

Our first clue that maybe we had made a mistake in selecting the Red Carpet Inn in Brooklyn, was when the cabby muttered, ?oh, not nice place.? He kept looking around nervously and he basically tossed our bags out and then made a run for it. The next clue was that the few people who were on the street at time all had this look, a look which said, ?what are they doing here!? That seemed to be the sentiments of the hotel staff as well. The bedding and other furnishings were well worn and the hotel was run down and not very clean. What put us off the most was that we both had about a half dozen bite marks in the torso region. We did not see any bugs but something did bite us.
So no, we cannot recommend the Red Carpet Inn in Brooklyn, and we will not be staying there again.

  • Never, never, go there!

The room that I was check in was in front of elevator. I should have known from the beginning that the front desk was protected by bullet-proof windows. Environment is so dangerous. The room was noisy, dirty, and so stinky. To cover up the stink, hotel throw a lot of perfume on carpet. It makes me dizzy. Carpet was covered with dusts and pieces of paper. When I turn on the heater, all the dusts spread out all over of the room. Soon after, I started scratch all over my body. After taking shower, still itching goes on in bed, too. I could not sleep until 5 a.m. scratching.

Also there was no Internet at all which was promised by hotel. Therefore I called Travel agency to refund and early check out and the front desk promised to do that. However, the next morning, the hotel denied all the promises and refund. I had to check out without any refund at all. I had 4 days reservation and prepaid but I had to pay 4 days without staying!

This hotel is terrible. Never go this hotel.
