  My family (2 adults and 2 kids, 7 & 9) along with my friend, her spouse and 2 kids (5 & 6) had a blash. This is an older hotel so the halls that 'older' smell to it, but if you ever enjoyed visiting grandma's house you'll be just fine. The rooms are larger than the newer hotels which is nice as well. The indoor/outdoor pool is exactly what my kids loved. You swim under the wall to switch from indoor to outdoor. The free breakfast is just what you would expect, waffles, fruit, cereal, bisquits and gravy. The staff is very courteous and willing to help out. Just ask. At 10 one night we needed extra pillows. Within 10 mins they were delivered. We were 10 mins from the lexington and aquarium, 25 mins from port aransas. Location is not directly off the highway which helps with noise control. We would highly recommend this hotel. It's perfect for those on a budget who want to take a family vacation.

  Although the staff was friendly and helpful, we will never return to this hotel. Our arrival was late and our room was ready with the a/c turned on and the room cool, however; the roaches were enjoying the cool room as much as we did when we walked in from the heat. During the night the headboard fell off the wall. The next morning we requested a room in the newly renovated part of the hotel. The staff was very quick to accomodate our request. The new room was an improvement over the original room, but still had roaches. One of the reasons we chose this hotel was because of the onsite restaurant and free breakfast. The breakfast was very tastless and the restaurant was not very clean; there were dead bugs on the floor and none of the tables were clean nor were any of the chairs. The restuarants menu items was very limited and no bar services as advertiesed on their site. The only thing enjoyable about this hotel was the pool. It is an indoor/outdoor pool but it too was in exteem need of a major overhaul. Needless to say, we cut our trip short and returned home.

  I have stayed at this hotel quite a few times over the years. I stayed here because it is close to the dogtrack, the breakfasts were good and the rooms were clean. This last stay was different. While I was cheching in the motel did not have my AARP discount figured on the invoice, I had to point that out. The carpet in room was not vacuumed very weill and the AC was pretty noisey and the towel rack fell off the wall when a towel was removed. They no longer have a happy hour in the evening and the continental breakfast bar was opened late. The rates are cheap but I think I would rather stay in a motel that is a little more concerned about thier customers.

  This hotel is under new ownership and management and willing to do whatever it takes to make guests happy. The staff is very friendly and courteous. This hotel is the best value for your money. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.
