Never again at Luxor

We stayed at Luxor because we felt assured the room would hold up to it's 4 star rating. However, it did not. The room was old and dirty looking. The shower floods onto the floor everytime we used it, the carpet was badly stained to the point that it didn't look clean enough to walk barefoot on. The window draperies were covered with brown water stains. We have stayed many other places in the past and they were very nice in every way. We also spoke to others staying at the Luxor and they did not enjoy their room experience as well.

This past trip was my second time staying at the Luxor. The check in procedure is efficient and this time I stayed in a one of the towers. The room itself was nothing overly fancy, but it had a bed, a stand alone shower, a over-sized bathtub, and a TV. If I had to find something wrong with it I guess the lighting could have been a bit better. There's plenty of places to eat for most price ranges in the hotel/casino and it's location is definitely a main selling point for me. Not to mention since they have Club LAX within the casino a nice younger crowd comes in there. It's not quite the MGM Grand, but it's not a bad substitute especially for the price. Not sure how family friendly it is, but then again, I'm not sure how family friendly Vegas is in general.

We have stayed at Luxor many times and it continues to be a great deal for the money. There is no other hotel like it. The atrium is very impressive and the new renovations add a new level of sophistication, although I do miss some of the theming elements that have recently been removed. We ate at several of their restaurants including the MORE Buffet and enjoyed all of them. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The only problem we had on our entire trip was with housekeeping. Although they did a good job cleaning the room, they did not show up until late in the afternoon. Everytime they arrived, we had already been out for the day and then had returned to the room. All in all, it is a great deal for the price....no better value can be found in Vegas!

If there is a mandatory charge it should be included in the room rate when booking the reservation. If this charge would have been stated in the room rate information we may have considered another hotel. All charges should be stated in the room rate information and not added on after this information has been provided.
