In charming Delray shopping district, within 2 blocks, 100 nice restaurants, bars, galleries, clothing shops, drug store and your choice of organic coffeeshop or Starbucks, The hotel is beautiful, slightly creaky wooden floors, and old fashioned manned elevator!, french doors, ball rooms, mantels, a little bar tucked in between the beautiful front porch and the charming lobby. Beautiful hotel, Great condition Helpful staff: from the manager who insisted on helping me carry the two hot cups of coffee and toast and fruit up to our room for my sleepyhead. to the housekeeper who saw me with ice and offered to hold the bucket while I got my key, to the lady busing tables at the complimentary breakfast: eggs, bacon, sausage, and a real treat: Porridge! the standard assortment of toast, cereal, fresh juices and good coffee, all served on pretty china, and of course real flatware. The entire hotel is painted in mood-setting tropical colors. Great wall hangings of b&w photos that look like Butcher's Everglades, Harvey Prints, old photos of the hotel and Delray and offiial plats from the city. There was a TV in the room, but it was so romantic to sit and talk, have a cocktail, read, or curl up in bed, we never turned it on. It seemed like we had traveled far away to some tropical island, but ALL the natives are friendly! I have never met the family that has owned the place since 1935, but the staff is so infused with love of place and guests, one suspects it comes from folks who truly love to serve the public. In the very best tradition of innkeepers around the world, the Colony makes one want to check in, but really regret having to check out. We'll be back . You'll fall in love!

I had stayed at the colony 2 years ago not impressed but somehow got wrapped into staying there again because of the good location, and wow i had a great experience. The staff were beyond attentive and friendly. The food menu was perfect for both beach snacks or a dinner. All other guests were freindly and social...it was truly a great experience.

Staff here is angry and rude. Tables have old food smeared over tops. A very rude old man with a mop slinging water around the room and snarling at guests if they are in his way (eating breakfast). Nasty!
