My boyfriend took me here for my birthday. The view was lovely, the staff friendly and was more then helpful. We had a great time. The pool was sparkling and the room was clean. I woul dhighly recommend that you stay here. Just keep in mond you are paying a resonalbe amount of money. Do not expect the Ritz.

I booked a different hotel for my trip however the hotel I booked was terrible and I refused to stay there. I called around and found the Islander!! When I first saw the outside of the building I was a little unsure because it is an older hotel. However, the staff was absolutely amazing and let me see the room before I checked in. It was oceanview, on the 8th floor, had a full kitchen and a nice sized room. It was also much less for the week than the previous hotel. It was a wonderful experience. I want to thank the staff for helping me get everything straightened out and getting me into a room that was exactly what I wanted. We spent alot of time at the pool which is quite large and was very clean. Also on the weekends the TIki bar is open with drink specials which was great!! The only complaint I have is the maid staff was quite rude and informed us that we must do our own dishes and pick up any and all trash. My question to the maid supervisor was what exactly is your job then? Other than that one incident the trip was amazing and I would definitely stay at this hotel again. It's not the Hilton but if you want a clean room with a nice view for a good price the Islander is for you!

although the price was low and the location excelent, the overall quality of the hotel is extremely low; main issues are the general cleaning, in particular on the common areas and the extreem need of maintenance. last disapointment : room service/cleaning not done untill 4:0 PM , front desk explanation:""...usualy we clean before 4PM only the rooms for the new guests,.........."" if you are EXTREMELY adaptable and you are looking maily for a low price this is your hotel a suggestion to the hotel management : a little more money on the maintenance will have surely a big return, trust me !

stayed one night 2/15/09. Unsafe, Unsanitary Atrocious accomodations. Room smelled, locks would not work properly cracks in door frame as well as walls and ceiling. Smell was unbearable, Slept on top of bed and not under sheets. Wouldn't even use shower. Questionable people hanging around on street and in lobby that come and go avery so many minutes. Got out early next morning.
