RUN--- do not walk...AWAY from this hotel! A dreadful experience overall, beginning with our arrival. Room was not as booked, we were offered a choice of two "out buildings". One was two flights upstairs (no elevator) and the other was a suite with no electricity in half of it, and major construction/renovation taking place on the roof and just outside. After a scene at the front desk, we were finally given the last room available in the main lodge. On the hottest day of 2007, the air conditioning did not work and neither did the one fan supplied. Many more trips to the front desk, and each time numerous other guests were complaining about the lack of air conditioning or other services . or asking to be moved. Main complaints: (1) NO air conditioning (don't believe their website-- the Windham Bldg is NOT air conditioned); (2) Manager cannot be contacted after business hours; (3) The outdoor lights were not turned on after dark, so that we had to unpack and maneuver in total darkness.. and I mean TOTAL; (4) Staff are either surly & rude or incompetent-- no one seems to understand the meaning of the word "service"; (5) The games/activity room was at least 100 degrees and both billiard tables were marked "out of order"; (6) You have to go to the basement to access an ice machine...and throughout our four day stay, the only vending machine (also in basement) was "out of order"; (7) What hotels in 2007 do not offer in-room coffee, an ironing board & iron and air conditioning in the height of summer?
Only bright spot: the restaurant manager (X) who had just started work two weeks earlier, went out of her way to be helpful to us and was the only person who did.
