A good time of year to visit this location. Not busy, a two room upgrade given, plenty of space by pool, and beach. A rough start occurred when staff gave us a hard time about unloading our luggage. It appears, that unless you use their services, you can't even approach the front drive. I found this frustrating. We travel light with carry on luggage. Be prepared to walk a half mile to your room. Good size room, but No internet without extra $* dollar daily fee. Poolside covered chairs will run you an additional 50 to 100 per day. Pool is open 24 hours but be prepared to have security staff constantly ask who you are. Great hiking path traveling east of beachfront. We saw a seal and pup. Nearby beaches give you an opportunity to rent boogie boards and snorkel. Lagoon on site is not worth it. No ocean life! A big plus is the in room safe. Big enough to place my mac laptop and canon camera with room to spare. Maids are a bit overzealous in cleaning. They will clean up your messes, including items you placed aside to recycle or save, you may want to clearly store these out of sight.

Beautiful resort -but I can't stand resort fees. In my opinion they are scandalous unless they give you something of value. The Hyatt resort fee is $* a night and gets you newspaper on you door, weight room access, and wow discounts (10 to 20%) at ridiculously priced stores. To add to that if you want a lawn chair on the beach that will be $* a day, want to use the sauna or steam room that will be $* a day. Breakfast at $* pp is way over priced. Lunch menu is actually quite good and priced reasonably for the quality of what you get. Dinner is a total rip off. Italian food is cheap to make - so give me some. If I'm going to pay $* for an italian dinner I want to be full - not looking at my entree that is at best 3 bites of food. But the real topper is $* for a standard martini that comes to you half full. If you don't mind spending $* for a Bud light and if you like resort fees, this is your place because it is a beautiful place with good service. Just remember to take you American Express, Visa, and your Master Card with you.

The Grand Hyatt is gorgeous the moment you walk into the atrium of the hotel. You can see directly to the ocean. If you can get a partial ocean or full ocean view, it's worth the price. If you end up with a mountain view - it'll be a view of the parking lot and then the mountains. Food at any of the resort restaurants are awesome, but can be pricey. The smoothies are amazing and so is the sushi from the Stevenson Library. Views from all the restaurants are priceless, ask for Terrace seating. If you get the chance, try the Anara Spa at the Hyatt - the facilities are better than any spa that we have been to. We enjoyed every moment at the Grand Hyatt!

Just returned from two weeks at the Grand Hyatt Kauai and once again we were wowed! It is simply one of the most beautiful, luxurious places you can stay. From the lobby, to the pools, to the gardens, to the beachfront, it is all wonderful. We had excellent service at the restaurants and terrific housekeeping services for our room. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, especially those at The Illima Terrace in the morning. Our room was clean, bright, and very comfortable.....we really hated to leave. A huge plus is the gorgeous weather in Poipu---sunshine and blue skies everyday on the south side of the island! Highlights: the lovely grounds/pools, the daily breakfast buffet, and a superb anniversary dinner on the terrace at Dondero's! Lowlights: the outrageous prices for drinks poolside--* for two small, watery drinks(!!!)....not fun, but not a deal-breaker. Overall this is a great place to stay and celebrate something special....we honeymooned here in 1994, and return every five years to celebrate our anniversary. We end up booking a longer stay each time we visit! I highly recommend this resort if you are looking for a romantic, relaxing, and very special place.

Absolutely beautiful! Great service, tons to do. Would be a great place for a honeymoon (our 25th anniversary). The adult pool was great - all pools were great! Water was a bit cool though. Free laundry facilities, so we took fewer clothes and just washed. Not many negatives, but here they are. Obnoxious shower curtain - wouldn't pull closed. These fancy hotels need to not charge for getting on their computers to check email. Also, they charged $30 to swim in the lap pool unless you had a spa service and then it was free. Why should you have to pay to swim in that pool as opposed to all of the others. Good workout facilities anyway. Overall, a fantastic place!!
