This hotel offers an great time for a family or just adults. There's a bit of everything for everyone, but be prepared to pay for it. If you're light in the wallet, that's cool too, local eateries off the property help keep the costs down. Hotel graciously upgraded us to an ocean view room upon check-in, which was as good as it gets, beautiful!!! There's plenty to do at the resort or nearby. The beach was always clean and a good time. The use of the hospitality suite to shower and prepare for a late flight was a benefit we truely appreciated. The waterslide was as much fun for adults as the kids. Keep your shoulders and heals down, but lift your mid-section to keep your swimwear off the slide and you will love the speed. Taking a cruise aboard the Gemini is money well spent. Cool staff, great boat, awesome snorkeling. Old Lahaina Luau was also a great time. All you can eat and drink, but you better go back for more food quick because they start cleaning up soon after last table runs through the buffet. Mai Tai's were the best we tasted during our trip. Food tasted great and the desserts were amazing too. Our first trip to Maui will be remembered forever, we loved it!!!

The Westin Maui Resort and Spa has a prime location on Kaanapali beach and the facilities are wonderful. Food is very expensive, way higher than when we stayed her a few years ago so eat elsewhere unless you enjoy paying per person for breakfast. Check in was swift and efficient. Parking was an issue in their tiny lot with tiny spaces but that's pretty much all hotels on Kaanapalil beach. The resort did seem to be super crowded this time as it did the last time we stayed here. Resorts in Hawaii take a beating from the humidity and unless the rooms and facilities are renovated on a regular basis they can appear rundown and have funky smells pretty quickly which clearly applies to the Westin. The beds are newer and very comfortable, but the rooms are small, outdated, and not very clean. I think the bathroom should be spotless every time it's cleaned and I just didn't feel that was true this time. Even thought the hotel is non-smoking you can definitely smell smoke in the rooms and in the hallways. Being a non-smoker I really don't want to smell smoke especially in my room. Until Westin upgrades the rooms and hallways and gets rid of the surfaces that impregnated with smoke and the outdated carpets and furniture I'd stay elsewhere. The Hyatt is beautiful and has been updated, or the Maui Marriott has two new buildings with villas that are brand new (all timeshare now but beautiful, large villas!). Unless you get a super deal on a room stay elsewhere.

Stayed here 8 days. Very nice staff. Parking filled up late in the afternoon, but the valet would courtesy park your car for free, so there was no problem. Absolutely beautiful hotel. Definitely snorkel at Black Rock! Saw green turtles there last time but not this trip. Lelanis was great food, so was the fish tacos at LongBoards. Both on the beachwalk. Trip in to Lahaina via the Westin's hotel shuttle every hour was very nice. Drops you off at the Safeway and Cannery Mall, or down at Hilo Hatties in downtown Lahaina. If you go to Safeway and want to go right back to the hotel, cross the street to get the shuttle back. Be sure to grab a schedule from the driver. Really nice music at Ono restaurant by the Westin pool every evening for the dinner hour. You can grab a pool lounge chair and relax and listen. Westin has 5 pools. One is adult, 16 and over and has a hot tub and a bar with food service. They said when asked pool hours were morning until sunset, but people swam in the late evening and no one complained. Everyone was very nice, concierge (even though we didn't book a tour of the resort villas) front desk (cleared up an accidental valet parking charge no problem), room service, bell man. You can buy inexpensive food at ABC or the food court in Whaler's Village, or at Safeway. There is a small fridge in the room and use of the room safe is included in resort fee. We were upgraded for free to 5th floor mountain view from a cheap economy room.

The staff was great. the hotel was a little run down. the AC wasn't great and cigarette smoke smell wafted into our room. The hotel gave us $100 credit to compensate but the smell made us very uncomfortable.
